RBS Card readers? 1 per account/person? or SAME one can be used for any person ?

    My Natwest and smile/co-op readers return different number combinations in reply to the same input number so I agree, these must be different alogithmns.

    Thats exactly what I would expect. It does not mean the algorithm is different.Have you tried putting the same input numbers into the same card reader twice to see if you get the same result each time?
    I understand there is a transaction counter within the chip on the card which increments each time it is used.

    I have four or five from different banks, NatWest, CoOp,Nationwide,Barclays. I find them all interchanageable.
