A good cat trap and even more importantly - a very good pair of welders gloves - once though kittens bite they arent going to let you xxxx,

I do have some reduced price salmon in the freezer, will give it a go tomorrow ;)

Though the mother cat was skulking around some ducks last night, wonder if she is planning on trying to catch one :p

    They're still in the loft...............

But, OH is spending a couple of hours a day up there and they are becoming more brave, so hopefully a few more days - and if not, the cat trap should be picked up by then ;)

    Afternoon,

I now have 6 kittens and their mum as farm cats.

Kittens are 9 weeks old, so there is very little chance of them being domesticated.

With hindsight, I'm not sure what else I could have done. The picture was taken when they were 4 weeks old and I did feel they were too young to be parted from their mum and she would have never followed them into the house.

A week later, they discovered they had legs, could run, and they could hide in the barn cavities. They also have a little bit of their mum's fear of humans (but plenty of food is overcoming that :D)

My postcode is not covered by the 2 nearest cats protection places so I'm going to have to buy a cat trap myself, but to get them all to the vets to be neutered it will be a good investment!

Going to order trap tonight, as Mum is a priority now - we have already seen one tom cat visiting a few days ago:eek:

And think I need to start buying cat food in bulk..........

If not handled by 6 weeks, then it will be difficult. They should in time come for food, but they will never be cats who are happy to sit on your lap.

Trap ordered, should be here in next few days. Going to be "interesting" trying to catch mother cat

Cat trap arrived, so mother cat will be going to the vets soon.

When I feed them, the mother cat gives a command and the kittens all go into hiding until I am safely gone. I've started spending more time with them at weekends and they do gradually come out of hiding then.

There is one ginger kitten who is braver than the others, and I managed to get a picture.

She is beautiful! i am sure in time they will get less wary.I really hope you can catch the mum,and in time, the kittens.I know of someone who thought feeding the strays round her garden was enough but didn't take into account the breeding and any sickness. When it came to it she couldn't catch them but cats protection did manage to catch one or two.

Do keep us up to date,i know you have so far.Bless you for your patience and kindness.

    Morning,

We have had a bit of progress with the kittens. They are now growing up quick, and they all come for food when called. 4 kittens have their heads rubbed and cuddles, the tortie is very much like her mum and wary of humans. And the fluffy ginger one is very much in charge and gives you a "do you really think you can touch me?" look :rotfl:

They are having a great time in the hay loft, go out and explore the fields and farmyard, and adore cardboard boxes :D

    A few pics:
