Well, it's not going according to plan!
Friday night, assembled kitten pen, newspaper down, litter tray , bed and bedding (+ spare bedding in case of accidents), plenty of food and feeding bowls. Sent OH up to loft with cat box..................
.........kittens go one by one in a line into the wall cavity when they hear a sound. Passed OH some gloves, stuck hand in wall, nothing (farm built 1740's so I imagine the cavities are quite big). OH (very optimistically) leave cat box there in the hope that they will go inside themselves, check later and the door is shut :rotfl:
Plan abandoned, try again Saturday.
Same thing Saturday morning, but did leave wet and dry kitten food.
OH now up in the loft again, planning to stay for an hour or so and see if they emerge!
And the mother cat has started to wean her kittens, there's a half eaten rabbit and blackbird up there
Moral of the tale - cats never do what you want them to

No joy, that's after 2 x 1 hour up there. Two kittens occasionally peek heads out but that's all.
Any ideas? Any food left the mother cat eats0 -
As has been mentioned your local CPL will probably loan you a cat trap to catch her and the kittens.
If you can't find the local cat rescue, a call to a pet vet, will probably furnish you with the closest one.
My friend, when she was involved with rescue, used to have a constant stream of feral kittens to tame, most of them became the same as regular cats, but there were one or two, despite her best efforts ,who remained partially feral.0 -
I've got loan of a cat trap organised, they advised at the time it was best to catch the mother once the kittens were weaned but looks like I will have to bring the dates forward.0

Well, what if you do NOT leave the food out, they get hungry and come to food then when YOU are holding it?0

Their mother is catching and taking them various wildlife, so would need to catch her first to stop the food supply from her, she is also still feeding them milk.
Just emailed my contact at local cats protection league, as suspect going to have to use traps.
I was so happy Friday night, everything ready and a long weekend of kitten playing/taming planned. Pity the cats didn't understand that :rotfl:0 -
Although tiny, kittens weight can trigger a good cat trap. We've always had to use traps for catching feral kittens.DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE. GET YOUR ANIMALS NEUTERED TO SAVE LIVES.0
