The only comfort I got from my experience was knowing that some of the dental students got to deal with a "worst case scenario" and had a great case study to write up.
They weren't the ones carrying out your op were they? :eek:0 -
Threads like this make me glad I work for a big company with proper sick pay and no restrictions on when I take my holiday.
I get the impression this is a very small firm with no-one with any formal HR training. I can't imagine why a company wouldn't assume sick leave wasn't the first and most obvious solution. Maybe this was a bit of an educational thread for the OP who I do think was genuinely bemused at some of the outrage
It sounds like the employee is hoping to recover quickly and return to work within the week so sick seems the obvious as with self certification for the first week they have the option to return after say three days rather than lock themselves into a whole week off which may ...or may not be needed.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

The main person was fully qualified but I had an audience of dental students which grew as the op/conditions got worse.
I had a vague recollection of students being gathered to witness the disaster that was my wisdom removal experience. A truly useful learning experience in how-not-to-remove-wisdom-teeth I believe.
I think the tutor even said something along the lines of "You may never witness this again in your working lives"!!!There are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.0
