Hi,

I applied for T-mobile sim only full monty plan 30 day rolling contract £26 per month and I have bad credit, 1 out of 5 on Noddle. What are the chances of me being accepted? as I am yet to find out as they have not processed my order yet.

Also, If I am accepted, after 3 payments will i have to undergo another credit check to transfer to a full contract?

Thanks in advance

Only time will tell, I'm a little concerned how many people seem to get bad credit ratings so easily?
Stick with the sim only if you get it and obtain a handset without a long 24 month contract, you know it makes sense and reduces the risk of further obtaining a bad credit record, and helps ou stick with what you can really afford, living on the never never is not often a good idea.

Yes, I agree, the bad credit stems from when I was 18 and stupied! lol but I have not had any dealings with credit for 3 years now but I have not paid off the original debts which is why I still have these on my records.

I hear giff gaff do quite a good deal on payg, £12 month and 250 mins, unltd txts and unltd internet so if I get declined I may try giff gaff and save up to buy a nice payg handset.

I'd buy something cheaper (2nd hand maybe) and go with GiffGaff - then use the money you save to knock some of the debt off. :)

OP is, effectively, trying to buy a good credit score.

It might work, too. I've had various T-Mobile contracts during the past few years and I don't think I was credit checked again after the first time.

    Hi,

    Just an update for you.

I have been rejected for that particular plan but I have been offered another plan for £20.40 per month and have been advised i can upgrade to a full contract after 6 months so I have decided to go with this and buy a nice payg phone until the time comes.

I am also now going to go through my credit file and see if I can set up repayment plans for my debts (totalling around £2000) so hopefully I should start to see my credit file getting better in the coming months and I will make sure I pay my phone bill and not apply for any further credit.

Credit rating can't be bad just because of some debts you have. It's bad because of late payments and defaults. Paying the debts off will make a very small difference.

That's much better than getting a contract phone, but IMHO paying the debt off is a higher priority than having a nice handset.

May I ask what exactly you decided to pay £20.40 p.m. for and whether you actually need this huge amount of airtime?

Are you suggesting I ignore the debts till they drop off my credit file? as you specified that paying off the debts will make little difference.

I do use quite a lot of minutes keeping in touch with family who do not live near me, I also keep a close eye on my grandfather who is ill and has been for some time so I speak a lot to him.

The main reason for me getting a contract aside from the minutes is because I want to actually have a green light next to my account/s rather than defaults, I do have a good relationship with my bank but that is about it at the moment so I am sure that building a good relationship with the network will also help my file.

No, I just was saying that your assumption that your credit rating would noticeably improve after starting a repayment plan was wrong.
And debts don't just 'drop of' a credit file after 6 years. It's more complicated.

Why did you consider giffgaff with 250 minutes then?

Green lights don't cost £20+ p.m. You can get the same result for £7-£7.50. And 'green lights' will not help much while you have default(s) and unsettled debt(s) listed in your history.
  • 20 pound odd seems a bit much...for that I would want a handset as well.

Lots of plans nowadays include unlimited landline calls on PAYG and also can do texts. And for about half of the cost you are considering paying.

    Time to think again.
Get them old debts paid off first

I pay under a tenner a month for a 'free' handset (bottom of the range Android smartphone), unlimited SMS, unlimited Internet and 100 voice minutes (I don't make many calls) and I think that's expensive! :rotfl:
