Replace radiator with towel rail

Options
Just wondered if this was a reasonable quote.

I am planning on replacing an old radiator with a towel rail. The job would involve:

Drain down system (combi boiler)
Remove existing radiator
Extend both pipes approx 80cm to new position
Install 1100 x 500mm chrome towel rail
Re-fill and test system

Price quoted is £295.

Thanks

doesn't sound a bad price i assume this includes the supply of the towel rail

    Yes it does.

My first thought was "how much?" but thinking about it I suppose its not too bad considering they are supplying the radiator and there is a fair bit of work needed to move the existing pipework to the new position.

Will give them a call tomorrow to arrange it. Its the last thing needed to finish the bathroom after a year!!

    Thanks for your help

a chrome towel rail that size is going to be £80 or more plus vat & you will need two new valves as well the existing ones on the rad are no good you need straight ones so it all adds up, the other thing to remember your bathroom won't be as warm because the towel rail won't give out as much heat as the existing rad & also something else no one tells you a white towel rail will give you about 75% more heat output than a chrome one

    Incorrect.

    really for example

    22mm straight
    1200x500 white = 499 watts
    1200x500 chrome = 317 watts

    iflo 25mm curved
    1200x600 white = 634 watts
    1200x600 chrome = 412 watts

so there you go there is a nice emote over there for you it looks like this :o

Works out about 35% or so in both cases, surely?
Not insignificant but 75% is a bit over stated.
