What happens when you plug you iphone in? Does your computer recognise that it's been connected?

it starts to charge thats all

I can see my iphone in my account details on itunes

but I can see anything else to do with the phone, I can't sync anything at all ???

    btw,

I've read a number of so called solutions on applecare forums (none have worked)

I have deleted the previous version on iTunes on my laptop and reinstalled the latest version (still won't work either)

I have also done a complete retsore on my iphone, made no difference ??

It might be useful to know what things you've already tried to save useless repetition.

If you haven't tried already then connect your phone and open iTunes. When your phone shows in the left-hand pane right-click it and then left-click on "Reset Warnings". Disconnect the phone and reconnect it to see if it will Sync.

Have you used this particular computer to sync the iphone before? If so, when the did this problem arise?
as above, would be useful to know what you have already tried to do to resolve this problem

Thanks for the suggestion (both of them)
    1) I have tried so many suggestions, I couldn't honestly list them all, I have googled iphone4 will not connect/sync to itunes
then followed a number of links, all have failed (hence I have deleted itunes several times, I have restored my iphone several times, all have filed)

    2) I wish I could see my iphone in the left had column, hence the query
the only time I can see my phone is under my account settings, apart from that I can't see it or get any options to

now then thats a bit tricky, my original iphone has been returned as faulty
the iphone I'm trying to sync to itunes now is a replacement iphone

*** I'm using the same Itunes I.D. for this phone, is this O.K ??

the problem has been on going for several weeks, but as I have been without a working iphone until afew days ago, there was nothing I could do

however my original version of itunes had some sort of issue with some file extension ( can't remember the exact name of file) but I couldn't delete that version of itunes
however a quick search on google provided me with the solution to sort this problem out

I was then able to delete the old version of itunes, I have since installed the latest version at least twice, but still can't connect/synce (or even see my iphone) on itunes

    puzzled, cos I certainly am

Using the same Apple ID on the new phone is perfectly fine.

So you have never been able to sync this phone to your computer at all? And if you can't see it in iTunes, can you at least see it in MyComputer? If not, may need to install a driver

    OMG, OMG, OMG

well after trying various options I have just had a change in fortune, I have just tried the iphone on my notebook, I assume it has the lastest itunes on it

I have just signed in to itunes on my iphone (even though I have already had this option on before when I've tried)

anyway for the first time in several weeks I've just seen a wonderfl sight on the left hand pane, my iphone showing up in/on itunes

so at least I'm part of the way there

so whats this driver suggestion then

as this laptop is my main computer, and I though I was upto date etc with updates/drivers

as I have mentioned I have already deleted & reinatslled itunes on this laptop several times

any suggestions for drivers would be appricated, Thanks

as for this laptop NO I HAVE NOT been able to see/sync or connect to itunes via this laptop, not yet anyway ???

just to update things, finally I have connected my iphone to itunes

however this was on a seperate notebook, not sure if it means anything, but the itunes on the notebook was a clean installed and unused version (never been used on the notebook)

yet when I delete and reinstall itunes on my main laptop, I always get all my previous apps etc in the itunes app, but can not connect or sync to itunes ???

how comes a clean install of itunes still has my previous apps in it ???

Can you do anything in iTunes with the iPhone since it is now listed in the left hand pane (such as backup or syncing)?

The driver was a suggestion as your iPhone was charging, but not appears, so thought it may have not been installed, or may have had a problem installing. Just double check if you have the mobile Device Support installed by the checking the Program's and Features page in the control panel. Also check if the driver is installed, first plug in your iPhone then: My Computer > Properties > Device Manager (top of left hand pane) > Universal Serial Bus Controllers > Apple mobile Device USB Drive. Right click the Apple Mobile Device USB Drive and make sure it's enabled.
