Pre-paid cards - PO or Fairfx

Hello, apologies if this has been discussed before!
I'm travelling to Germany for a short trip soon and looking to get a pre-paid card to use out there ( I know some banks offer good credit cards for this but I already have a CC and don't want another just for a short holiday).
I plan to take some cash for bars and taxis etc but feel a bit safer with a card as well. I'm only looking to load it with a few hundred Euros but would want to spend it in shops etc and use ATMs. I am currently choosing between the fairfx card and the post office equivalent, is there much to choose between them? I did also consider the Thomas Cook cash passport after talking to one of their travel agents. I would like something which I could either top up myself while abroad via online banking or get somebody at home to do if I overspend or encounter any problems whilst out there. I have heard that you can't always check the balance easily so is it just a case of keeping a track of your spending? Not travelling till March so got plenty of time to order a card.
Any advice appreciated.

Kalixa card purchased via TopCashBack and topped up via Bank Transfer is not a bad option, if you can keep the cash withdrawals large and seldom.0
