Faulty iphone 5
Options
I took out a new contract with Vodafone on 16th December 2012 and chose an iPhone 5. I didn't start using the handset till 3rd jan as I was having problems leaving my previous provider 3. Since starting to use it it frequently disconnects from wifi, whether at home or elsewhere. I've tried resetting my settings etc but it still disconnects. My husbands iphone plus my laptop are still connected so I know my Internet is fine. I phoned Vodafone today, explained the problem and the operator said as the phone was over 16 days old, I was not entitled to a replacement handset, I would have to send it off to be looked at by their engineers. I agreed to this and asked if I could get a loan of a handset as my old phone is locked to 3 and I need my phone for my business. She said this was not possible and suggested I call Apple instead! I don't know what my rights are regarding the loan of a handset and was looking for some advice. Tia

If you took out insurance on the handset you may have rights to a loan but not otherwise, it's down to what loan stock they have in stock (if anything).
Apple have released a few update to fix wifi issues have you applied them? If you have and it's failing that book an appointment with an Apple Genius in an Apple store, go in and chances are Apple will simply swap it for a replacement phone.
To be honest don't bother with Vodafone repairing it, even if you have to send it to Apple it will be faster. Apple won't repair it as such simply send you another which becomes yours, so it's just a few days time in transit.0 -
take it to apple will be much easier/quickerWhat goes around-comes around0

Thanks for the replies. I don't have insurance with Vodafone as have mobile insurance through my bank. The nearest apple store to me is 60 miles away in Aberdeen, so think ill have to phone them instead! I have installed the fixes but things still the same!:(If you always do what you've always done...

Contact Apple, They may be able to do an advance Fix, that is where they take your card details and send you a phone, if you return yours in a few days then that's all there is no charges. If you don't return the phone they charge you for a replacement one.
That said Apples return process by mail is really just a few days, can you not borrow a phone from anyone?0 -
Thanks gjichester I'll call them in the morning. If you always do what you've always done...

Out of interest what router and ISP is it the router that it is disconnecting from using?
I have just behaving problems with a Netgear DGN2000 on Talktalk, after trying everything, changing the ISP DNS settings to Googles, since then touch wood it has been working fine.
This was a problem on iPhone 3GS and iPad 3, other devices were ok.0 -
It's the netgear DGND3300 on TalkTalk. I've had the router for 18 months and been with TalkTalk 14 months and never had problems with my husbands or my iphone 4's. my husband still has a steady connectionIf you always do what you've always done...
