Comfortable car for long distance travel

When I was looking after the crash the only car I really liked was the Volvo V50 - anyone any experience of these?0

Well Ford owned Volvo for the last 10 years, but lets be honest, Ford are quite a good manufacturer these days so its no bad thing. I would recommend a Volvo S80, seats like an armchair, get a diesel and you have comfort, safety and economy in one package.
Plus the price, you can get a lot of motor for your money, £3000 will get you a great car.Practise safe sex, make love in a Volvo

Insignia Estate or Tourer or whatever it's called. Comfortable, decent quality, plush and can be serviced at 1001 dealers. The man without a signature.0

Not the most exciting to drive, but you can't go far wrong with a Volvo. Comfortable, safe and practical - perfect for what you want to use it for.
I second what someone else has said, take a look at the Skoda Superb. You see loads as taxis, because they are strong, reliable and comfortable. Oh, and they are enormous inside. Don't know, if that will be too big for what you're after...0 -
A Skoda is a possibility as I've heard good reports about them. I find the business of car buying very confusing-how do you compare age versus mileage for example?0

What do you mean age versus mileage? Cars like Volvos and the big German cars can easily do many tens of thousands of miles. For a Volvo, I would typically choose one with less than 60,000 miles.0 -
Mondeo but stay away from the Zetec. The Zetec has the sportier suspension so can be a little hard for long runs.0

You definitely need something larger than 307. Try Ford Mondeo/VW Passat/BMW 5-series/Merc E-class//Mazda 6/Skoda Superb/Vauxhaul Insignia. They are all German-designed for high speed autobahn cruising. Engine 2 litre+ (for smooth quiet and effortless cruising). With that sort of mileage definitely a diesel. Also Lexus, Toyota Avensis (boring but bulletproof) and Volvo S/V70 (expensive to maintain) are nice comfortable high speed cruisers."Retail is for suckers"

Skoda Superb is head and shoulders above the rest if you can stretch to one (and don't want a Lexus
). Can I help?0 -
Vauxhall Insignia premium feeling car or Ford Mondeo but less appealing.
Buy my Vauxhall Insignia in March if you like, I'm moving country! :P:j
