How to close inactive savings accounts?

Hello
I have several savings accounts with Halifax which I no longer require after they dropped to very poor rates.
Can I close these or is it best to leave them open?
Can I just go into the branch to do this?
Thanks.

Having savings accounts open are normally not of any use to you so I would close them.
Normally you should be able to close them in branch, I would ask first anyway.I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.
Don't rely on anything I write as it may be wrong!!!0 -
Branch visit or letter to PO Box 548, Leeds.0

It will depend on how inactive - if they have gone dormant you will need to go into branch with ID to reactivate them (just to close them LOL)0

thank you guys.
I have a few to close (around 4), would it be ok to list these in the letter or would that be suspicious? I just want to make my banking look bit tidier.0 -

Halifax probably wouldn't appreciate a form from RBS.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Funnily enough I sent a letter to the halifax yesterday to close my old account and today they have credited the balance to my Natwest account.
It looks like they couldnt close my account quick enough. I used the form above to I might addIm an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0
