Using Skype, best phone and network please?

Options
Hello

Being stuck with the same Nokia for several years on tmobile I've decided to take the plunge and get a better phone, move to a better deal.

I'm quite old fashioned and will only be using it for calls, texting, very minimal Internet usage but would love to be able to contact the relations abroad on skype.

I've had a look on the Internet but I can't seem to find anywhere that states a particular network lets you use your data allowance on skype and I'm not even sure if you can access skype on tmobile.

If anyone can shed any light on this before I order the wrong phone on wrong network online it would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Three used to offer Skype for free, but not sure this still applies but worth checking. I've used Skype using the app on the iPhone, but only using WiFi and it was decent enough.

Three are probably the best.T-mobile block it for sure-not too sure on the rest.

O2 will let you use your internet data allowance for Skype. It can quite easily be added/removed to a contract and comes as either a daily charge - so you're just add it to your phone on the specific days you need it - or as a basic component to the contract. I know O2 have a range of internet packages to choose from - http://shop.o2.co.uk/tariffs/18_months

Skype on the iPhone is good. It’s easy to connect to the Wi-Fi, either in the house or when out and about. Using the Wi-Fi means you can spend less by purchasing a smaller internet allowance so I'd recommend doing it that way.

I use Skype regularly on 3. Mainly on WiFi though.

yep, I'm on O2 and use skype on my Galaxy S2 with no problems. I just went to the google play store page on t'internet and installed to my phone from there.

TBH I didn't realise that any mobile providers blocked it.:o

The S2 is also easy to connect to wi-fi whether at home or out n' about. Do be aware tho' that using skype if not connected to a wi-fi signal will bite lumps out of your data balance.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)
