buy extended iphone warranty or pay to upgrade??
Options
ive got a iphone 4s thats coming upto its 12 mnth of a 24 mnth contract. i no the warranty is only for the first 12 so was thinking of getting a extended warranty, think there about £80.
but i no from experience at phones 4u that they will buy out contracts if you weigh ur phone in. so im thinking would it be better to weigh the 4s in, £200ish, to pay off the contract, and get a iphone 5? im currently paying £35 a mnth on orange.
(it doesnt work out at 35x12 when u buy out as they reduce it)

I think the question to ask yourself is... have you had any problems in those 12 months?
You see phones from 10 + years ago still going strong.0 -
it depends f u want a new phone or notWhat goes around-comes around0

I would be asking how good the phones are if only last 12 monthsDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Rumour has it the iPhone 6 will be released this year. If your 4s still works, just use it and don't spend money a warranty. It's only a year old!
You'll get an iPhone 5 cheap when the 6 comes out, or if you must have the latest and have money to burn, at least you'll bypass the 5.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I generally don't recommend phone insurance as it's very hard to make a claim. For example, having a phone stolen on public transport is rarely covered by insurance and common problems that occur from being dropped are normally excluded from being fixed for free. How much have you already spent on insurance this year, and have you claimed? If not, it's generally not worth it.
If you really want insurance, then check if your phone is covered by your home insurance policy. It's generally a cheap option and may already be covered.0 -
I wouldnt upgrade. I also wouldnt pay for the insurance. Id happily see out my contract and if i was happy with the phone id change to a sim only deal on completion of the contract.
Ask yourself this. If you upgrade now you will be in exactly the same position in 12 monhs time. Should you upgrade to the iphone 6 etc. What exactly does the 5 do that your 4s doesnt that is worth upgrading at that price?0
