Are All Energy Suplliers Increasing Prices ?
I'm currently with British Gas for Duel Fuel and just had their price increase letter.
I've thought about switching but then thought they will all be increasing their prices anyway, If you switched at every price increase, you'd be switching all the time - lol
Am i right in my thinking ?
My current bills for duel fuel is about £300 a year, so not a great deal. According to Uswitch I could save £65 by switching to PowerGen. British Gas did use to be the cheapest on Uswitch for me.

There seems to be a trend of all the companies raising their prices - I had my letters through from London Energy last week. I think we should sit tight for a while until we know what all the energy companies are doing, then look to switch once they have all made their price rises.
On a similar subject, one of the companies knocked on the door last night and told my boyfriend that I had written to them to complain that I was paying too much for my gas and electric, and they had had similar complaints from other people in the area. Looks like the door to door salesmen are looking to make a killing at the moment so be careful!0 -
Martin has been saying don't switch yet. More companies are likely to increase their prices so wait until its a level playing field.
It would not surprise me at all if those who have not announced rises yet are waiting a few weeks to give their salesman an opportunity to grab some business first.0 -
Hi, just trying to help. Have never known BG to be cheaper than most others. Would like to have details of cost/kw. Us consumers need to know our annual consumption and the p/kw of the suppliers. Simple then, multiply, cost per annum. Do not listen to any salesmen, work it out. It is not mathematics, just simple arithmetic.
BG are part of the old fashioned conmen, just like BT. I have fallen for them. Got a fantastic house insurance deal with BG :', good for first year, after that, a new mortgage to pay the inflated costs.
With all due respect if the UK public could work it out BG (and BT) would have no customers. As I said, just trying to help. No offence meant. ;DThe moving finger, having writ, moved on.0 -
Hi, I am an internet virgin but think this site is a fantastic way of trying to keep ahead of the system
I am currently with Virgin for my electricity and gas. They have sent out a letter to consumer's recently saying they are going to increase prices and offering consumers the opportunity of signing up to the new prices until January 2006.
From what I have read to date on the site it sounds as if this is not a good idea. I have no idea where Virgin fit into the cost table and whether I am with a provider that is offering good value or not. If anyone has any opinions or suggestions I would be very glad to hear them.0 -
I use Good Energy for my elecricity.
Whilst they are slightly higher (5% ish) than most suppliers at the mo, I'm happy to pay that knowing they generate from 100% renewable energy sources. Yeah, I'm good for the planet y'know.
However, as they don't rely on fossil fuels, I'm assuming they also won't be affected by the global oil price rises and gas shortage, so they could end up being the cheapest... I will wait and see.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0 -
Could you post up some details about them please.
They may start to become more competitive.0 -
It would be interesting seeing their marketting B/S explaining that the cost of the wind has gone up as Britain is running low.
PakI say what I like, I like what I say!0 -

You can find everything you need at: https://www.good-energy.co.uk
If you DO decide to become a customer, post here to let me know because we could both get a bottle of free organic red wine, which we might as well get too hey?
(hasten to add, I have no alliegance to them other than being a hapy customer - I did not post here to try to get free wine, just to tip you off to a potential saving. Whether you sign up is upto you - and if we don't get wine, I'm still happy!)Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0 -
Oh, and please let me know how your quote compares to your current one, as mine was only 5% higher.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0

Thanks for the info.
I will probably wait until AFTER my company has put up prices and do a comparison then.
Not much point doing one now if prices are going up.0
