The John Lewis preserving starter set contains everything you need start making jam. The set contains:

• 6 preserving jars
• Thermometer
• Square jam muslin
• Aluminium funnel
• 24 patterned covers and labels
• 24 transparent covers
• 24 wax discs and rubber bands

I recently bought the thermometer on its own for £7 but that'll go back as I've ordered this set for just a couple of quid more! The funnel is £5 on its own so adding up the cost of all the bits the set is great value, even disregarding the jars which I imagine most MSE'ers wouldn't usually pay for
