It would be a shame if you parked the car outside his house, forgot you had done so, then reported it missing.0

They sold it to you with one key and you accepted that.
You cannot force them to give it to you if it wasnt included in the sale.
But i maybe tempted to phone them at some odd time and demand the car back. Dont be abusive but witter on like a senile fool. And say the cars not where you parked it and they are the only other people with keys.
And you will be phoning the police now telling them this.
Who knows they may offer you the key. Otherwise change the locks?
Tell everyone you know not to buy a modern car without a full set of keys.
Opps i took so long posting ScotsMan's idea is even funnier, Park it outside theirs at night and phone asking for the car back.
Just make sure you dont leave anything inside it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I'd rather eat glass than give the shyster one h'apenny.
Stick by your guns OP.0 -
i d be like Gilbert . but even better . go reprogram your keys so only the nominated keys can work on your car.. i have done that with my mini.
then call him and tell him you accept his offer as long as he mets you in your area(not your house)
let the muppet wait there and tell you are stuck in traffic...
i never ever filled the buyers form and left it to the seller ..always felt paranoid about doing that, just considering that they may have another spare key and day after you buy it car is gone..it has happened a lot0 -
I'd tell him to go jump.
Offer him £20, if he says no, bid him farewell and tell him to have fun with his useless Nissan key. IMO, he has clearly planned this to extract more money from you.0 -
A decent human being would just give you the key0

You've shot your bolt and I'm sure he'll still sell you it, but you'll get no bargain. You knew it came with a single key and still bought it so you aren't out of pocket anyway.
Circumstances are peculiar though, my knuckle dragger wouldn't put a fiver of fuel in the tank never mind lash out so much cash as a surprise. More likely the auction, or the person who traded it in to your, "private seller" found the missing spare.0 -

I disagree. A car with one key supplied with one key is fine.
But if somebody says "this car has two keys but you can only have one" then the car is worth considerably less due to the obvious risk of theft of, or from, the vehicle.
How would the OP's insurers react if they were told that a dodgy bloke was in posession of the second key?Can I help?0 -

It's not how it was sold though.0 -
I would tell him that you've changed your mind about needing a second key as you cant afford it after just buying the car, however you are willing to give him £50 for it, as thats all the spare cash you have.0
