Not allowed a Sky Dish - Options?

Due to price increase, I'd like to change from Virgin to Sky.
Current package includes BB / Phone.
We live in a leashold property block of flats.
The freeholder has agreed to a communal satellite dish (SkY) sadly, not enough residents interested (most elderly)
Not allowed an individual one
TV interest on Virgin goes from channel 101 to channel 300, no sports / films.
Can anyone tell me, if I cancel Virgin, what options do I have getting the same channels elsewhere?

Unfortunately if you can't install a dish then you don't have any other options to retain all those channels.
Your only alternative platform would be Freeview but that has only a small proportion of the channels on Virgin.
You can compare the channel lists here:
http://www.virginmedia.com/customers/pdf/virginmedia-presents-channel-guide.pdf
http://www.freeview.co.uk/var/freeview/storage/original/application/3f27f0c762a088b3a311cbc148fc5da1
You could get a Youview box from Talk Talk and watch some more channels over IPTV (in addition to the Freeview channels) by adding one of their TV Boosts:
https://sales.talktalk.co.uk/info/tv/tv-extras
EDIT: Full list of potential IPTV channels from Talk Talk via their Entertainment Extra Boost here: https://sales.talktalk.co.uk/prereg/basket/boosts/tv-boost/entertainment-extra?showButton=false&ajax=10 -

Pity
Didn't really want to many set top boxes.
Thanks for the info / links.0 -
What about on the ground? I know Sky can install on the ground if you are not allowed to have it on the building.0

I have sky and I am in a block of flats with no dish, I get all the channels through the regular ariel socket but the only disadvantage I have is I can only record channels I am watching. i.e I can't watch one channel and record another, but that doesn't really bother me with all the +1 channels.S.P.C member 1662 - target £3000

If you don't have a dish, you are not getting Sky. There must be a communal dish on your block, with a single feed, hence no full PVR functions. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
