I think I'm pretty much resigned to 'it just ain't gonna happen' now...but it still niggles me that I couldn't solve the problem"!!

The puter is about 18 months old and has 'NVidia GeForce 4 MX 440 64mb DDR'

  • I had a similar problem on my mac, it turns out I was using a S-VHS lead rather than a S-video - they both look the same! Changed to the different lead and it worked perfectly.
  • Allexie, you're getting black and white pictures because s-video carries the luminance (the black and white bit!) and the chroma (the colour bit) seperately. If your tv doesn't support s-video OR you're plugged into the wrong scart socket OR if you've switched the tv to 'av' and not 's-video' then all the tv will process is the black and white picture.

Quite often only one scart socket supports s-video (usually scart 2 ) and you still have to set it to s-video because it supports composite signals (av setting) as well.

    Hope that helps.
