Well it looks like I'm going to come in well under my £300 for Jan (it was a wild guess what I spent as this is my first challenge!)
BUT Feb is going to be tough as I won't have a kitchen for most of it! (Being redone)
So please put me down for £250 as I'm sure I'll buying more convenience food (still cheaper than take outs)
Good luck everyoneDecluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Please can you add me to this thread? My SOA using November/December's months showed that we spent £700+ on groceries, nappies, etc each month! There's only me, hubby & 17 month old DS!
So for February, I'd like my budget to be £350.

What about HM wedges - cheaper and healthier than chips.

I used to hate the self scan and pay machines , but now i love them lol. I can stand there and feed in my bags of pennies and change and theres no one to tut or complain that the till person is having to count them out, andi get a little thrill when i see the total going down every time i chuck a hand full of pennies in, instead of reaching for the plastic. :rotfl:
I had to laugh at this! I do EXACTLY the same. I get so much change on a daily basis, but when I go to the till I just give notes/the card because I don't want to count the coins out and hold people up. The self check outs just LOVE my pennies though! :rotfl:Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Went to M&S last night on the way back from the hairdressers for some fancy chips to go with our hunters chicken/steak and spent £13.52:o. This included some GF YS items, strawberries, a big squeezy black treacle, mushrooms, mash, 2 salads for lunches and DH chucked in some sweets for me & DS;)
The hunters chicken I made was very easy and very tasty. I will definitely make this again. I am thinking of slicing my chicken breasts lengthways before I freeze them as I find a whole breasts bit too much meat for me.
I have a chicken breast in the fridge as I had defrosted a pack of 2 last night. I tried to split them but ended up smashing one of my denby dinner plates in the process.
I have also defrosted a turkey breast fillet I got YS a while ago to roast and will have it with roast pots, frozen veg, fresh carrots and the last bit of GF stuffing in the box.
DH kept going on about custard yesterday so I will have a think about a pudding too. He doesn't like the microwave sponge puddings from the index, says they are too eggy so they are a no go. I haven't got any jam or treacle either. Hmmm, that rules out the tin of rice pudding in the cupboard then.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

That was inclusive of gifts bought in supermarkets for Christmas, but yes! In November we spent £700. Shocking. Tightening the reins, a lot! Bought a job lot of 300 nappies and 20 packs of wipes last month, have cupboards bursting with cleaning products & toiletries, so should be no problem, coming within our £350 budget. When it's dark, look for stars. When it's raining look for rainbows.

I chuckled at this too. My teenage son goes busking regularly and has discovered that if he buys something cheap (bar of chocolate or similar) and then puts ALL of his busking money in the self check-out to pay for it, it spits out his 'change' in the largest denominations possible, so he ends up with notes and 'big' coins rather than loads of coppers and silver!0
