I dont think my dad will change as he get calls included with "unlimited" 2mb for like £17.99 or summat. If theres better deals out there then he may swap

BTW, my lines data rate is configured to 1152=1mb.
...Well were ment to be getting 2mb, not 1mb. and still 60k is pushing it for download speeds on a "2mb" connection

  • Yes, but tht 60k may be a result of the source server. In which case, it's nothing to do with your ISP. Best way to check is to use a download manager of some kind. They use more than one connection to the source (if possible) and will max out your connection. Then you'll get a better picture of what you're actually getting.

If your speedtest says "391 kilo bits per second" then it's likely the speed of your source server.

As mentioned earlier, go to Ubuntu, pick on or two of the UK mirrors.

Download one of the distro's. Let it go for a few minutes and stabilise, then look at the speed at which you are downloading. It'll give better results than most speed tests.

Have you check you've got microfilters on all phone sockets?

I'd unplug everything pluged in your phone points except the broadband/filter, see if it makes a difference

Can you recommend any download managers?
Will they work with bittorrent software?
