Hi
My new 4S has used 1G of data in a week.
Can anyone provide the best settings for facebook/email/surfing please?
Just checked and I had Icloud switched on.
Don't need Icloud or any of that stuff. And I always use Wifi at home.
I've downloaded Onavo this morning.
Thanks.

EDIT: In addition to above, my online bill is showing as having used 1MB with 1023 MB left out of 1024 MB.

I had an issue like this when I first got mine and a guy at Orange told me to make sure I closed applications fully after using them and to not stream videos etc if I wasn't connected to wifi.

You should leave iCloud on, that's where your phone gets backed up to each night. It's possible the first upload to the iCloud was large the rest are smaller just updates not a full backup, but iCloud works over WiFi.

Most likely is you've downloaded a lot of new stuff on getting the phone, or sat and played with it a lot and used data, it will get less as y7ou get used to it.

iPhones don't use more data than any other phone per se, but if you leave apps open that fetch data, or set them to fetch too often (how often do you need email and facebook updates?) Many people set them to 5 mins when they get the phone but really a few hours is fine and manually update them if you need to get a refresh

Other option is it's connected to a neighbours wifi connection over yours, failed to connect to that or yours and reverted to 3G use.

I always turn off automatic updates on my apps so they have to ask.saves usage and battery.

Did you update your 4S to iOS6 in the first week? There are many others who have stated this has resulted in excess data use as the iPhone has switched from Wi-Fi to 3G. The download is over half a GB I believe.
