Avoid Easirent and Atlaschoice at all costs

I booked a car through Atlaschoice (trading as eRentals.co.uk) for collection at Gatwick and was sent to this 2 bit company called Easirent, who were actually in a hotel concession on the outskirts of Crawley (miles from Gatwick!).

My booking was for a 7 seat vehicle. I thought something was up when the staff hesitated when they looked up my booking, then whispered amongst themselves. They proceeded to take a security authorisation of £1250 against my debit card and charged me for an extra driver. When I went outside to collect the vehicle there was a dirty 5 seat vehicle outside. I asked them where my vehicle was and was told that was it! I said that I'd booked a 7 seater and couldn't accept a 5 seater. I had to go to another company to get a suitable vehicle, for which I had to pay again.

Both Easirent and Atlaschoice told me they'd cancel the booking and refund my money. Easirent could have paid the refund directly back to my card in teh same way they processed the charge but refused to do so. After numerous calls and e-mails I'm yet to receive a refund from either company, and have given them notice of legal action.

Whatever you do, avoid Easirent, Atlaschoice and eRentals at all costs, and go with a reputable company.

If you paid by card, have you asked your bank to perform a chargeback on the card? That's likely to be easier and faster than legal action.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
