TV Licencing?

Apologies if this isn't the right section to post this in.
I haven't watched live TV for about 5 years now (torrent everything so I can watch at my convenience without adverts, or use online on-demand), and found out in October that you only need a licence if you watch or record live broadcast TV. So I cancelled my licence online. Now I'm getting the expected threatening letters telling me that I'm now under investigation.
That doesn't really bother me (apart from their assumption that I should need a licence) - I have a couple of TV's with DVD players and games consoles connected, but have no arial available to connect and don't have any sky/virgin subscriptions (I did have virgin basic TV package but cancelled it a couple of years ago so dont even have a set-yop box of any kind).
What is bothering me is knowing that they will turn up at my door. I don't haver anything to hide, but don't see why I should have to let them in. Anybody know hoe this all works? Is the emphasis on me to prove that I don't watch TV, or on them to prove that I do?
Cheers,
Zak

There are numerous clips on Youtube of people following spacey2012's advice. You don't have to prove you don't have a TV.0

If you have any device in your home that can pick up tv signals including a computer then you must have a tv licence.
Sorry but that is the current law.0 -

Which law is that again? Which bit of the law says if you own a computer then you must have a TV license?
I've now had 14 years with no TV license and during all that time I've owned a computer. Oh dear...How many months in prison do I get for that?:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

You dont have to respond to their letters, their visits, their enquiries..nothing. You dont have to speak to them or let them in. Just tell them to go away and stop harassing you.
The last time i got one of their silly self declarations it said..
I do not need a tv licence becuase..
I then simply wrote in.."because i dont need one "
And sent it back just for devilment.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

That isn't the law. You can own a dozen TV's and be subscribed to virgin and sky, but if you do not watch or record live broadcast TV then you do not need a licence. A licence is not required if you own a TV, DVD player, games console, PC, or if you watch on-demand services like BBC iPlayer, youtube, or if you download previously broadcast material.0 -
