Woolworths made a mistake like this just before christmas... It was in newspapers and everything and over 10000 people ordered it and not one got it.0

The isse was not the pricing itself, but the size of the "package deal"; on the checkout it merely said, "£-1099.
What normally happens in these situations? I've ordered one. Will I get it for the cheap price, and if you wouldn't normally, does the fact that in this case it was not actually a price error, but a discount error (ie, too much was taken off)?
Any help much appreciated.
It's like arriving at a car accident, seeing injured people and taking their wallets because they can't stop you.
You should want to be an upstanding and honest member of our society, not looking for a quick buck at any opportunity regardless of who suffers because of it.0 -
I get your point but when you think of big companies who literally rip off elderly people of 100's of pounds it's kinda nice to have one over on them.
Larger retailers can easily (and I mean easily) absorb the costs of the occasional mistake (even though they rarely honour them), it's when concurrent mistakes are made day in day out that they begin to suffer.
As for your 'car accident' annecdote, personally I think it's a pretty sick comparison, and one that hasn't been chosen well.
Anyway, thanks for reviving the thread. Been a while since i looked at this one!

Just a personal opinion here. . .one comparison given is where someones life and definitely health is in danger, versus one is a greedy corporate entity who I am sure squeezes every last penny out of employees and customers alike, making a financial mistake . If you make a mistake , like everybody else, you should suffer the consequences and be accountable for your actions. If you except payment you enter into a legally binding contract. some people may understandibly disagree with this, and at the end of the day everybody is entitled to their own point of view. If I bought something from the company in question and then saw it far cheaper online that would be my own hard luck, so wheres the difference. What about the mistakes when people are overcharged, I question whether these companies are so ready to refund you unless you chase them to !0
