That is very poorly written copy.
I am going to protest and speak to them about it this evening.0 -
they wont honor it - though ask for a nice big discount0

Why do you think you should get a TV for a fraction of the cost just because they put a price in wrong?0

And would we, after having been charged interest on a credit card payment, be allowed it back if we just tell the company, "Oh I am sorry, I just missed out a zero".....0

Why do you think you should get a TV for a fraction of the cost just because they put a price in wrong?
The fundamentals of online shopping are that the vendor gets the prices correct. If you see something that's too good to be true in a shop you can query it with an assistant. However its Comets responsibility to state the correct prices on their site, or its worthless. End of story.
We all know that £99 for a £1099 TV is a misprice, some of us can even see that its missing £1000, but Comet allowed the OP to complete the interim purchase and place the order.
It's their mistake, however as an online retailer they can use a disclaimer to cancel the order.
So it boils down to why should Comet have an online store when they can't get their prices right? If they were made to incur the loss made by their error, its an incentive to not do it again, and waste peoples time. I fully think the OP should get it for £99, and even sell it on ebay and make a profit if they wish.
Why? Because its not his mistake.0 -
Newbie to sitebut had to let you know:
I too "bought" a 42" tv from Comet on the 26th and received the confirmation.
Then an e mail apologising and basically saying - tough.
But since then I received a bona fidi receipt from comet. My C.C co say the money hasn't left the account but is pending. Comet are trying to return the money to the CC account.
It looks as if they will get away with it.
Does anyone have any more info or are we stuffed?0 -
If the money hasn't left the account, I don't think there's anything you can do about it apart from move on and realise you're not going to get your obviously mispriced TV.0

and even if the money had left the account they still don't have to cough up with the goods. Basically they can get away with making huge mistakes whereas the customer cannot.0
