T-Mobile Overcharging after Upgrade
Options
Hey all,
Can anyone advise; I upgraded last month with T-mobile through the retention department, I agreed to pay £30 a month for my new contract.
This month I have been billed over £40.
Online the plan states my monthly plan charge is £35.29 (excluding VAT!) and then I'm getting charged over £6 on top for VAT. Is this legal or can I fight it at all? I've tried calling the customer services but they tell me this is correct and after much confussed chatter the rep offered me £5 off my next bill.
Anyone got any advice on how to challenge this further?

Sounds like its a pro-ratad bill, you have upgraded part way through the billing month & possibly changed price plan, you pay line rental in advance at t-mobile so you've probably got a refund on your bill for the time between the upgrade date and the date of your next bill on the old price plan but also a charge for the new price plan from the upgrade date to the next bill date, youl also have a charge for next month in advance.
Things will be clearer on the next bill0 -

ETA: also £6 VAT on £35ish is odd as VAT is 20% in this country. This indicates that £35.29 is not just your 'monthly plan charge'.0 -
What does your bill actually say and what period does the bill cover? I think you have to sort this out now, not to wait until the next bill.
Check your itemised bill online. When I upgraded in the summer I was charged £23 for my first bill when the cost should have been £15. They charged me an early upgrade fee even though I was within 4 weeks of the end of my contract and £3 for delivering the new handset - neither of wich I was informed of by the retention department. They agreed they shouldn't have charged the early upgrade fee and this was refunded on my next bill, however they wouldn't refund the delivery cost of the handset.
Additionally, when I was offered my new tariff I asked and was told this included VAT so do check that yours also included VAT and it shouldn't be added onto the price you were told.0 -

Mines was similar as well, i upgraded my phone three days into the last month of my old contract that was £20 a month and my new contract was £37 a month, i nearly had a heart attack when i was being charged £70 on my first bill and after calling up a few times (first person told me tough and didnt explain anything) i got the difference refund as at no point was i told that was i was upgrading three days into my old contract i would be charged anything and being charged over £20 for being three days into the contract is ridiculous especially as i was never informed of the charges.
Best thing you can do is call them up and inform them and find out why it has happend.0
