the easy way to do this would have been to scrap child benfit and put the money into child tax credits. This way it would have been judged on household income.3.64KW system, aurora power one inverter, South west facing with no shading in Lancashire.0

it's funny how everyone who is NOT earning 50k or 60k can say how they would be so well off if they did. people NOT earning 50k or 60K or more, should shut up about it as they clearly have no idea what they are talking about.
benefits should always be cut from the bottom up. about time these low and non earners realises who exactly pays for their tax credits and benefits.0 -

How do you know who earns what ?
If you're getting hit with it - get over it.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

My wife is going back to work when the kid is 6 MONTHS OLD. Why? Because we cant afford to pay the mortgage if she swans off work for 12 years. Not to mention 16 years or more. And we are now being hit with the child benefit cuts. But hey I'm not complaining about the cuts, we can afford it. But these people that live a life on benefits need to get out more and see the real world.
Childcare is gonna cost us £350 per week....now theres something the government can take a look at.itsgottogetbetter wrote: »Free to go back to work when the child is at secondary school? How? well, as someone with half a brain who earns a helluva lot less than 50k and can survive quite well thank you, and isn't in receipt of any benefits or tax credits, I'm just assuming that if I was in the position of earning 50k I probably wouldn't need child benefit. People not earning 50k also work, and also pay tax and have involvement in the benefits system and therefore may have just as valid points of view about how benefits are prioritised, including whether someone earnign 50k is entitled to a benefit funded by all tax payers, including those on really low wages. Seems counterintuitive to me.
I'd suggest some people (I'd hate to generalise) who earn over 50k have very little idea how easy or hard it is to survive on a low wage without additional benefits such as tax credits/child benefit. I'd also think some of these people may well grumble quite a lot if the prices they paid for everything went up to enable everyone to be paid a living wage. Unless you'd like to volunteer for a part time job on minimum wage and prove me wrong?0 -

you make me laugh. i probably pay more in tax than you earn in a year. no one should benefit from my salary other than me and my family.
that is fair. i'd have more than i need if I wasn't haven't loads of my salary stolen from me to be given to low life scroungers each week.
now, the unbelievably small rebate i get with the CB is also being taken. there is only so much people will pay in to get zero out.0 -
I think the problem is that two working parents who earn £45 k EACH will continue to receive the benefit as opposed to say one earner in the family earns over £50 k !
How is that fair?!??!Next [STRIKE][/STRIKE]£147/ £117

This really is a lot of fuss over a few quid a year.
People on 50 or 60 grand a year shouldn't be getting benefits, it's a crazy idea and a throwback to the days when women had to rely on their man to earn a living. That hasn't been the case for decades now.0
