http://www.amazon.co.uk/Flytouch-Superpad-Sandwich-Allwinner-processor/dp/B008U9LIFY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357300040&sr=8-1

DD ordered this with her Christmas money (not from the supplier on link). Arrived today but there is nothing to identify the maker. Operating instructions booklet in box but not professional at all (ie English very bad). No guarantee information either.

Also supplier has put a piece of paper in saying "Don't leave us negative feedback or file any claim to amazon provided that you have any problem with our products, we will refuse to provide any help or pay return postage for any buyer file a claim or leave us negative feedback. We would like to offer one year free warranty for any customer leave us positive feedback."

Beginning to think this was a big mistake. Should I return it and look for something elsewhere? Supplier does have 86% positive feedback.

Any advice from techies out there appreciated. Should point out DD is 10 and will be using it for games mainly.

I'd scan their charming note and email it to Amazon customer service.

Is there actually a problem with the tablet ?

I will be contacting Amazon after I decide what to do about the tablet.

Found the note a bit threatening, which is why I started looking more closely at the instructions, packaging etc. Now I'm quite concerned about the product and whether I should just get rid of it and get her something else.

It just arrived at my office this morning so haven't switched it on yet. The girls know more about these things than I do. I thought I would charge it for her so that when she gets it this evening it would be ready to go. Don't know if it works or not yet.

Apart from the lack of good support what else is wrong? If you bought a very cheap deal you might unfortunately expect to get non UK quality support?

You do have rights under the distance selling regulations so ought to be able to return it within 7 days (I think) with no quibbles. Google the regulations as there is a good government site with info or see http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/consumer_e/consumer_different_ways_of_buying_e/consumer_buying_by_internet_mail_order_or_phone_e.htm.

It may however in practice, if purchased from abroad and especially outside of EU [regs stem from EU Directive], be a bit difficult to get the refund from a supplier that seems a bit dodgy in their customer service. You may just have to put it down to experience but contact Trading Standards first!

    Good luck.

Just noticed you say you bought from Amazon. That would be my first port of call if you are not happy with it, even before charging it up!! They usually give a good service in my experience.

Why have you posted a link to a different supplier, why not post a link to where you actually purchased it from?

You seem more concerned about the note sent with the device re. negative feedback.

Are you happy with what you have received?

Do you expect iPad quality for £100?

Who did you expect the maker to be? Flytouch? Superpad? Flytouch Superpad?

It appears to be a generic tablet that chinese manufacturers are churning out and are resold under a number of names. Ultimately they are what they are, they dont benchmark particularly well but then youre getting a 10" tablet for less than the cost of a mobile and so you cannot expect them to be amazing.

If she is happy with its performance then keep it, if she isnt then send it back under the Distance Selling Regulations.

Depending on the number of sales I would be very concerned about buying from a seller with only 86% feedback in general.

Or to put it another way, 14% of their customers were not happy.

86% positive is a horrendous score for any seller, let alone a business.

Ainsley - I don't know if it works yet. My concern is there is no information about guarantee etc except that the supplier will give a one year guarantee as long as I don't give negative feedback. If the item breaks down in 6 months the supplier will probably ignore.

Espresso - I certainly do not expect Ipad quality for £100 (she's 10 doesn't need an ipad) but I do expect something which will work and a way of contacting manufacturer if something goes wrong. There are no details of manufacturer on packaging or on the booklet. As for posting for a different supplier, this is the way it appears on Amazon and then there is a link you can click for a list of suppliers. I can't change which appears on the initial page. I am concerned about the note because it is very unprofessional and it makes me feel they are a fly by night supplier who will not stand over the guarantee. (I should also point out that she bought it herself with Christmas money she received from relatives and wouldn't have had enough for an Ipad)

If the specs are true then its a pretty decent price. As said 86% positve feed back is not great.

probably worth turning it on and seeing how it performs. If it was UK sourced then should be able to get your money back. If its direct from China then you may have a problems as they will want you to pay for postage to get back to them before considering refund etc.

You need to consider who the supplier is and where they are based as if UK based then you will have protection of SGA etc.
  • Shaun - when you put it that way ...

Think I will get her to have a look at it tonight. If she's not happy I will return it.

Although I may just return it anyway as I think I will always be thinking it will break and not get fixed under warranty.

I'm not usually so indecisive but since it's her own money I want to make sure she gets the best use out of it.

2gg - you do not need to know if it works or not to return under DSRegs. They are there to allow you to inspect the purchase as you could do in a shop and effectively not complete the contract (buy) if you are not happy entirely. You do not seem to be happy!

It is not the same as the product failing or being not as described. Virtually any reason you have for not wanting it is valid.
