MSE News: Royal Mail fails to deliver Santa letters on time, leaving kids upset

Have to say, we posted ours round about the 1st of December, didn't include an sae or anything and it arrived in plenty of time for christmas. We have been using it for years and never had a problem, but common sense says it is best to do it early.....but really, it has nothing to do with using a free service, and more its likely the letters just didn't turn up. After all how many letters have they lost for anything over the years?0

what a load of bah! humbugs! My daughter wrote to Santa, never got a reply, this will prob be her last time aged 10! The magic of Christmas still loved on but clearly not for those who think kids who write to Santa ar spoiled brats or those whose parents 'didn't realise before last post at 4pm on Christmas Eve & had nothing better to do' could magically fake one. Bah Humbug I say to Royal Mail - quite right, shouldn't offer the service if you can't manage it & Bah Humbug I say to all you scrooges0

Perhaps it's just me, but what sort of silly parent promises the kid they will definitely get a letter back from Santa, and then doesn't have the sense to fake one up when it obviously isn't going to arrive on Christmas Eve. Even worse, they then complain about not getting a letter, from a free service that will obviously be incredibly busy! Royal Mail has run this service for many years, and if you get your letter in nice and early,ie November, there isn't a problem.Come on,its not as if Christmas is a surprise date every year,we all know when it will be!! Those complaining about having to pay to write to Santa, buy a 2nd class stamp next time,if you begrudge spending 60p .Your children wont know how much you spent on the stamp!0

We always used to get an Xmas card from Royal Mail whether we sent a letter to Santa or not. Never got one for last Xmas but maybe that is because I signed up for Royal Mail's NO JUNK MAIL service.0

Unfortunately my children are still waiting for letters posted to santa via royal mail's address from christmas dec 2011
shame on them!

oh no! i cant believe this. is this the same royal mail that delivers your xmas cards, birthday cards etc.,damaged?. the same royal mail that deliver your family photos, xmas calendars etc, damaged?. the same royal mail that when you make a complaint to them the best you get is a book of 6 first class stamps as an apology?. (and of course more damaged mail.) how will i sleep tonight? or more importantly, how do they sleep at night?.0

I have 2 children both of which used this 'service' to write to Santa, for the 'bah humbugs' out there, we posted the letters early November, it seems this is irrelevant as we ended up with one child receiving a letter and one not!!! Priceless!! Only my humble one but don't offer a service if you can't deliver - pun very much intended0

So a child who expected a reply from there letter to father Christmas is a spoilt brat? Who made you so miserable? My 3 year old wrote to father Christmas and he certainly isn't spoilt.
I don't know why some of you are saying it's a free service when it cost us a stamp.0
