Verification of a known DLL failed

The dism command said it had completed but didn't solve the error. When I tried to use my acronis rescue disk and the backup drive, it said the index was corrupt (I'm verifying the archive now).

Thankfully, windows has saved all my documents, etc in a windows.old folder so they should be ok. Can I just copy everything over to the relevant places to get everything back to where it was (I know I'll have to reinstall programs, etc)?

Also, I can't access the Internet with the new install as it won't see any web page (not even my router homepage). Anyone any ideas?

I've just about got everything sorted after recovering my documents (sometimes windows is clever).

The only thing I can't find is my bookmarks in firefox.
I'm assuming they'll be in the windows.old folder somewhere, but can't see them.
Does Firefox store them in a file somewhere that I can copy across?

you should be able to copy your entire firefox profile over

from memory it'll be in windows.old\users\(your name)\appdata\roaming\mozilla\firefox\profiles\(random text).default
