Speeding ticket doing 39 in a 40

They probably have, but the OP may well have missed them as well as the 30 signs.
They have done the same down here though. Dual carriageway always been 40mph. Now suddenly, Near where the speed camera's are have removed the 40mph signs.
One sign saying 30mph only on a stretch that must be about 4 miles with several junctions and roundabouts on it.
No signs saying new speed limit in force.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

If there are correctly space lampposts they don't need 30 signs. Any driver should know the speed limit when not indicated otherwise.0 -

Hi,
Thats what the Highway Code says, but I suggest the Highway Code is wrong.
For 10 years I drove along a road with street lamps every 25 yards, despite the last sign being National Speed Limit (Single carriageway). One day I saw a parked police car, so stopped to ask the speed limit. "60mph!" he told me.
Within a month, the council erected NSL repeater signs. Result! My thanks to that copper, too.
A couple of years ago, lots of mororists got FPN for exceeding the reduced speed limit on the M4 near Port Talbot. But the camera was sited on a 70mph stretch. Drivers had to appeal to get the ticket cancelled.

Its also worth photo's if the sign is obscured.0 -

So they forgot to put up repeaters, had you driven along at 30 would ypu have been done for excess speed? No, so in general the rule works.
I think you will find that the Highway Code and Road Traffic Act are correct and your local authoity were wrong.0 -

But when the speed limit has been 40mph for at least 30 years. You would think a little sign saying its now 30 wouldnt go amiss. Especially by the camera's.
And as you pull out of the residential grove there are no signs of a speed change and never have been.
I presume the camera's dont make them enough money. Like the ones on the A452. 50mph stretch, They fitted a camera. Then dropped the limit to 30mph.
Thinking about it. Lampost spacing. How may lamposts does it take to make the speed enforeable?
2 posts and a large gap? Is that acceptable? Infra-red taoe measure required i think.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

But I would have guessed they removed the 40 repeaters did they not?0 -

Only a big round white one with a red border and the new limit in black letters.0 -
