Gmail "not working" on G300

I set up gmail and it seemed to work fine on a G300.

Now it will send emails fine but only seems to receive them when I press refresh.

What dumb thing have I done now!?!

You've presumably got it set only to 'fetch' emails when polled manually. You need to set it to do so on a timed basis, i.e. at 15 min intervals, to push from the server, or whatever you prefer. The manual will explain how to alter the settings on the phone.

Thanks, that makes sense but no idea how to even look for that info?

I don't know what e-mail system you're using but I would think all will be similar.
I use K9, and for me it is: press Menu button at the bottom of the screen, then More > Settings > Account Settings, and Fetching and Sending Mail are in there.

It'll be in the G300 manual.

GMail doesn't have a timed option, it's push or nothing.

Go to settings, accounts, then your Google account. Make sure that GMail is ticked.

Wow, thanks Rusty, I was busy downloading the instruction manual when you posted and tried your advice.

It seems my gmail wasn't synced so hopefully that will solve it.

Just tried sending an email and it pinged immediately - so hopefully that did the trick
