Phone not charging is it under warranty?
Options
I have a mobile phone which is on a contract with Talk Mobile (carphone warehouse) last couple of days I've noticed that when I come to charge the phone up it is not doing or when I don't have the phone on charge it shows on the phone that it is charging (complicated I know).
What I'm asking advice for is. If I didn't take out any mobile insurance when I took the phone out (I'm only paying £7.50 per month for the contract) will they repair it or does it have to be under insurance for any type of fault?

That said, charging ports are very easy to damage, especially micro USB ones. Any damages can be covered only by insurances.0 -
Hi, if the phone is under manufacturers warranty it should be sent away for repair and repaired free of charge as long as you have not physically damaged the socket or cracked the pcb.0

Oops sorry didn't realise I'd not said the make and model. It is a Samsung Galaxy Ace. I only took it out on contract because it worked out cheaper (£7.50) than what I was paying out on top up per month. Most new phone nowadays have the same phone charger connector and I've tried it via a HTC and Blackberry charger which both have charged it previously.
I've just found our home insurance document and mobile phones are covered on it though I don't really want to have to pay an excess of £35 to get it fixed. I'll nip into a carphone warehouse tomorrow to see what they say.0 -
Beware, that if you just *ask* they are very likely just to fob you off. You have to know your rights and what you want before asking.
And just in case take good photos of the phone, especially inside where water damage indicators are. CPW are notorious for finding excuses for refusing to repair the phones - and water damage is the favourite one.
The warranty for Samsung is 24 months - both the Samsung's warranty and CPW's one.0 -
Don't just want to repeat what people have said (Samsung warranties are 2 years, should be covered provided no fault is found etc!) so I'll add that the CPW repair engineers document what they find as well in that they will send back photo evidence of potential damage with the phone if they do find anything that could be classed as force evidence.
Bear in mind they have no reason to lie about the fault of the phone - CPW only incurr costs in taking the phone and sending it back which they've already done whether they repair it or not! Any other costs are claimed back.0
