internet access via sony blu ray dongle

Hi we use Virgin Media and have a wireless net work in the house. We have a HD "ready" TV (not Sony)approx 3 years old and a Sony Blu ray player with dongle. We can access BBC i Player and 5 on demand but not the other stations. We access i Player and other sites such as You Tube by clicking on a link similar to an app but I can see no way of accessing the internet to get the ITV or Channel 4 players. I don't really want to buy any other equpiment but want to be able to access these channels can any one advise please? thanks
