cashback claims

For any of you taking out a new contract with any of the Carphone Warehouse companies, BEWARE.
They do everything in their power to make life difficult when attempting to claim.
Make sure that you abide completely by their terms and conditions (if you did not receive any, as in my case, request them), then they have to pay.

Following advice from Trading Standards, I had to threaten to take legal proceedings then eventually I got my money. The Trading Standards officer I spoke to said they receive many complaints regarding cashbacks.

Needless to say I will never use Carphone Warehouse group again.

i have been doing the cashback deal game for 3 years.. and in particular with cpw completely.. i have yet to miss a cashback but like you say you have to abide by their terms and conditions. However you will find the cpw information and t&c is easily available online and also they are a lot let strict than other companies...

With any cashback claim you need to follow the terms and conditions to a tee, CPW seem to be one of the best companys but any chance they get to void your claim they will take. If unsure about anything regarding the T+C then post on this board well in advance and you will get more help than you do from the companys you got the phone from. DO NOT leave it till the last minute as you will have little chance of claiming anything.
  • cpw get a thumbs up from me too. even 2 weeks late got a cashback (did put the early date on the form though).
  • The company used was 'onestopphoneshop' (by the way, why can't they just trade under one banner?). The first claim was rejected as being late. I contacted their Customer Services, who told me I had not adhered to their T&C's. The only paperwork I had made no mention that the offer was time limited which I explained to them. They still didn't want to know. I requested a copy of the T&C's on no less than three separate occasions to no avail. I contacted Trading Standards who told me that, effectively, the company was trying to impose new T&C's which is not legal, I threatened them with Court action and eventually they paid and forwarded a copy of the T&C's.
The second claim was sent off but was rejected as being too early (1 day in fact) because is should be 28 days after the contract was agreed not 28 days after the date of the invoice. Again, not made clear.
The final claim was settled, but the cheque arrived 6 weeks after the claim.
All the problems would have been avoided if Customer Services had listened and accepted they were at fault, then put the matter right as quickly as possible, then they would have had a satisfied and repeat cusomer.

ah ha well.. osps have much more stricter terms than cpw (even tho they are part of cpw) but their terms and conditions should arrive in the pack with the phone (including any claim vouchers). At the moment they have an online cashback calculator that lets you work out when you next claim is due.

However that said with any cashback deal from any company you have to read everything to do with the cashback terms and if in doubt email them to get a response in writing so you have some evidence of whats said.

My experience is varied. I have used onestopphoneshop - horrific - a bunch of thieves that refused to honour the contract and only backed down after court papers were filed. However, e2save are wonderful -0 never even had to chase a payment yet and they always arrive early!

Actually no, CPW make it easier for customers to claim their cashbacks compared to others. Which other dealer gives customers 60 days to send their bills???

CPW are far better then the rest in my view and ALL dealers have T&Cs concerning cashbacks and will in some way make it difficult for people to claim their cashbacks.

I've had no trouble with CPW either - the cheques can be a bit slow coming through, but they keep you updated by text, and it's easy to find the information you need on their website.
I would be happy to go for a cheque back deal with them again.
