wow some of you are a bit bitter arnt you, well, i rung them, turns out it wasnt the bank acount change that prompted the payment, it was because i had used estimates and had then told them the actual amount, so the money is mine to keep, had i read the letter properly the other day i would have know this days ago. so to sum it up, in the year 2011 - 2012 i was underpaid, and it had collected up.
off to the shops tomorrow! :)

thanks to the helpfull people, not many of you

How did you manage to survive without that money then ?

Oh i get it, benefits are not meant to allow someone to survive, its meant to give the folks plenty of money to go splash out on new clothes and gadgets.

not splashing out on clothes and gadgets just getting some of life essentials that we have had to go without.

    why are you so bitter?

So basically you left out the only relevant part of the story, because it had nothing to do with the bank change at all.

Congrats on the wind-up thread.....you got a few bites.

it was not a wind up, i was told when i changed details that it may prompt a overpayment so i thought it was due to that.

and its not benifits we are claiming its tax credits, Working tax credits, we are not sponging off anyone, my partner pays tax and NI on his wages, we are just claiming what we are entitled to , to be able to live , do you really have a problem with that?

Working tax credits are benefits. You are awarded them because you and your partner are unable or unwilling to earn enough to support your family. Note, YOUR family.

Enjoy your spending spree - I love it when I have money to spend every month.

my partner works full time and i care for our child full time , - we are not at all unwilling at all, infact this is the only form of benifit we have ever claimed,
i can see that you have a chip on you shoulder, i only came on here to ask a question, dont take it out on me,

Unable to earn enough to keep YOUR family then. I have no chip at all, I am very proud that my husband and I earn good wages and are able to pay our bills and pay for treats. I enjoy my friendships with my colleagues and love getting paid to take holidays. :) I was merely pointing out that working tax credits are benefits.

Incidentally, while you have time on your hands, have you considered an English course? Might help when you need to go and earn a living.

Well, they are called tax credits, which presumably when introduced was a credit of the tax you paid. I have no idea why this convoluted system was introduced by Labour but there you go. It was designed to give back the tax the the lowest earning folks paid in tax but gradually got exploited by Labour to just dish out as much dough as possible to the people in the hope that it would buy them votes. So these days, people get paid a whole lot of tax credits even if they havent paid any taxes, work that one out.
