Is the property on a water meter?
If 'no' then the bill is assessed against the old RV and is due whether you use the water or not.
If 'yes' have you checked that the meter readings are accurate?
Either way, the water companies do not pass outstanding bills to debt collectors without first trying to resolve the problem with the customer. If you have been visiting the property, you have presumably received (and ignored?) earlier correspondence?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
There are still standing charges if you are metered though.
Have you informed the supplier that the property is unoccupied? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
On this forum there is a lot about debt collectors and whether or not they are legally entitled to enforce collection, so I'd start there.0
