Mobiles.co.uk - Cashback Eventually

Options
Anyone signing up for a cashback mobile phone deal with a company trading as mobiles.co.uk (part of Carphone Warehouse I believe) should be aware that they will have to wait up to eight weeks for each of their cashback payment cheques.
The company says it takes this long for their bank to "process the cheque "! They must be banking on Mars - and think their customers are also not of this planet....
If you do sign up with them, they tell you the only way to claim cashback is by recorded delivery letter. When I challenged them about this antiquated system, they said they DO accept e mail claims to cashbackclaims@mobiles.co.uk.
Mobiles.co.uk tariff deals are not bad - but be aware that to claim your cashback on which they are based, you have to submit specific bills over a long period (they hope you will forget or not bother) and you will have a long wait each time for your money.

Yes, they say this, but there is no need to challenge them as in the Cashback section of their website they say:
You can submit a copy of your bill electronically by uploading your bill or you can email a scanned copy to cashbackclaims@mobiles.co.uk Alternatively you can send your claims by post
So, the system is not antiquated at all.
  • FACT: In the written literature they send out - which customers are told to read and act upon carefully - the company specifies that cashback claims must be sent by snail mail and they recommend recorded delivery !!! There is no mention of being able to claim by e mail. That's why I posted this thread.
Why are mobiles.co.uk sending information out that specifies a time consuming method of claiming (involving queuing in a post office) - if not to make the process a chore so that people will tend not to bother ?
And on the subject of antiquity - when customers pay instantly for their deal by debit or credit card, why do they have to wait eight weeks for cashback by antiquated cheque ? The cashback could quite easily be credited to customers quickly and electronically.

Why? Because it's their business model.
If all customers easily and successfully claim cashback and get paid instantly, then in the worst case scenario the company will go bust very quick and disappear together with all good deals they offer. In the best case scenario the company will remain, but all good deal will disappear.

FACT: you should be following the groundrules and not what they send out OR SAY at any given later time. THAT means reading, printing and following the written t&c at the point of sale (for starters) and ignoring what they send you afterwards. It's a VERY old game they play which is well documented on here innumerable times over many years.
