Three Network - Signal issue
Options
Hello,
Having been with the three network several years ago and been more than happy, on Xmas Eve I purchased an iPhone5 32gb from three instore.
At the time of buying I was warned about the signal strength at my house, which turns out to be more than usable. However I can not get a usable signal at work, as soon as I pick the phone up it loses signal and displays the "No Service" message.
I have done some research online and found that since I was with three last they have stopped a deal with orange where by the Orange 2g signal is used when no 3g signal exists. I was not told that I would lose connectivity completely when there was no 3g signal.
The terms and conditions on the three website suggest that if you have used the phone in anyway shape or form they will not allow a refund, can I get out of this contract?

No, you can't get out without penalty, no network guarantees reception at every location, which is why you need to check before purchasing an expensive contract.
You can't rely on DSR either, since you bought in store. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

That's why I renewed my contract with VF, when I'd almost gone to 3. I'm happy to accept that they have one of the best coverages, but no 3G means no service, where the other companies will almost certainly have 2G coverage!David.0 -
The 2G service was shut down over 2 years ago after a much publicised spat where 3 customers were using 2G handsets and costing them a fortune.
Your time to complain about unsuitability was in the first week - but this has sadly expired. They have certainly improved their network and continue to do so, so you may have to wait until an infill takes place.0 -
Thread resurrection time.
In the end three allowed me to leave the contract at no cost because the current signal issue was going to run on to the next 30 days at least. Great news!
However there is another problem, a long story but the tracking number for the special delivery parcel that the phone was sent back in has been lost!!
I phoned three and they assure me that the only way they can check to see if they have received the phone back is via the tracking number on the royal mail website, they are unable to check in-house, can this be right? Obviously I should have kept hold of the number but you would think they could check phones coming back into the warehouse.0
