You are aware that you can choose not to claim? For instance, could the child maintenance cover the childcare costs? Clearly it is your choice, you are "entitled" to the money, but you do have options.

The job is full time 9-5.30 Monday to Friday. Concerned its to high. My monthly incomings will exceed just over £3600 a month.
Pretty good, equates to a normal gross salary circa £70k/annum.

    Executive level!

Yes, I am aware thanks, however, as CM is not always guaranteed/ regular I shall be claiming what I am entitled to to ensure I can pay nursery costs/rent.

Shtove - i have also paid rather a lot in taxes in the past so wont let you make me feel guilty. Maybe if you don't like how the benefit system is set up you should contact your MP?

Bootsox - exactly why I queried it. I am aware that CM may start to be used as income in the future so I shall make the best of what I am entitled to now.

Bear in mind that becuae tax credits are based on previous years income these may go down in the longer term.

Well done on the job - I know child benefits are high - but reality once childcare drops so do your payments so it's really a way of paying your childcare.

I hope it works out for you and you enjoy your new job.

I have had no income since jan 2011. I was made redundant whilst on mat leave. I was then a SAHM from Jan 2011 until aug 2012. I have been on benefits since august and now hoping I get this job! Not sure if that will effect it?

Thank you! The nursery cost is more then my rent a month. Crazy! I certainly couldn't afford to work without help of nursery costs.

Yes it will go down but not by a whole amount as your Childcare is the main bulk that didn't exist before. So less but more than benefits.

If you are really worried do a turn to us with no previous (so last years income is discounted).

Most of your payment is WTC - ie childcare.

It seems high -but given the childcare cost it isn't really.

Add to this you are keeping people employed in the childcare sector it's a good investment.
