Hate this site on a Wednesday!

I have found that when I highlight my text, there is no "copy" option in the right mouse menu, which scuppers that precautionary tactic. For some reason "paste" is there, but that's a fat lot of good :rolleyes: .

This also annoys me when I want to cut and paste a portion of my text elsewhere, to improve the way a post reads. I never know if it's a site restriction or something to do with my security settings or what. If it is the site, it would be great if the techies could fix it when they get a minute .

Anyone like to try this out and let me know how you get on?

I get that too.

If you highlight it then press Ctrl and C it copies it.

Why 9pm?

I take its too send the email out to everyone at roughly the same time so everyone gets a decent shot at the stuff on it.

But and I may be wrong ( I generally am) I'd have said most people check their email in the morning and when they get home after work, so many of them may not get the tuesday email till wednesday anyway???

what about switch the search off on wednesdays? you said that has a huge drain on the servers! its not the end of the world to have search off for 24 hours a week!

We're looking at lots of things. Once the new site look is up and running a full 'server optimisation' process will happen. It is wroth a note though that according to BigBoards, our peak forum traffic is the second biggest of all those it records in the world.

We do try and look at what others do - but there's very little precedent - and with it continually growing (thankfully) at such a rate there's no 'downtime' to make things perfect. We'll get there though - the bigger site means more resource so we can try and work it harder.

The hardware is there - its just not fully optimised.

the other option is to use the mouse to highlight the text, then click on edit at the toolbar at the top of the page, and select copy from the drop down menu

The problems that you describe are most likely to be caused by your PC rather than the forum, which is used by many thousand users every day without any issues. Sort out your PC first, before wingeing about this site, i.e. try clearing your cache or try using a different browser.
