Anyone know if there's any available in North or East London before I start ringing around?

Massive thanks to the OP for this tip off. I have been planning on buying this camera for a few weeks now and nearly bought it last week when the lowest price I found it advertised for was about £90 - so glad I hung on until this week. Phoned Asda at Carlisle and they had to look in the store room but managed to find me one and put it aside until I went in and paid for it. Just to let anyone else know in my area (and save them a wasted journey), there was only one other camera left and that had already been reserved.

Really pleased with this as it has had consistently good reviews for a point and shoot camera - absolute bargain!

For anyone in Leeds, the huge ASDA in Pudsey has a few A530's (I just bought one), and probably a few A430's, too. Give 'em a bell to find out

Managed to bag the last A430 in Colindale ASDA. Thanks to the OP!

Also bought my sister a Fuji Finepix A400 for £50, but looking around on the internets it appears that's not as big a bargain. But still, she needed a basic P&S camera so she's still pleased with it.

I agree. I have a different 4MP camera and have blown dozens of photos up to poster size (60x40cms). I'm more than happy with the results.

Far more important is the quality of the camera and lens, and Canon cameras take consistently good pictures.

Wow, thanks Kandinsky & all. I've just popped down to my local Asda in Bridgwater & they had one left on the shelf marked up at £128. I asked the assistant to scan it & check the price & it scanned at £34.04 ! I would be pleased at 40 quid but at 34 it's a steal.

I have managed to get the last Canon A430 camera at Pudsey.He told me that it was £56 but when he scanned it,it came up at £40.Thanks very much Kandinsky I have been looking for another camera for a while but like most moneysavingexperts I want reliability but I want it at a bargain price

I have just reserved one in Dagenham. Said they have quiet a few. Amazed as she had had 5 calls re this camara this afternoon - and that they had only reduced it last night. (Tel: 0208 984 7633).

BUT - can anyone advise me on this - IT DOES NOT come with a memory card - I am a complete novice, what would be the best card for general photos - and what sort of price?
