I glued my Damaged passport!

I went to Barbados in August and when checking in at Gatwick there was some issues with my passport as the corner of the data page was peeling off, the security manager came over and told me that I needed to get it replaced, but told me

'if I was you than I would just superglue the corner back down before flying again if you don't want to fork out for a new one'.

So I took his advice and glued it down last night prior to flying to Morocco tomorrow, but it is very obvious that I have attempted to fix it myself as the glue has just made it appear wet rather than just sticking it down. It has clearly been fixed so I don't know what to do when I check in tomorrow, I guess i'm best off being honest and admit to stupidly trying to fix it? It has the chip in the back so surely they could just check the image saved to that matched how I look?

Hope they don't notice - too late to do anything about it now.

If it was not for the post count I would suspect troll post, tampering with a passport is never a good idea, you have had many months to get the passport replaced if you really needed it replaced, the agro saved is worth more than the outlay (if there was much outlay.)
  • Thanks for the replies, I do feel like an idiot. The glue is so obvious, but other than that the passport is in relatively good shape its just a shame that it is on the corner where the photo is so it is going to look suspicious...

That isn't remotely relevant... Saying "the only page with important information has been obviously tampered with, but the blank pages for visa stamps are in good shape" doesn't change anything. Nor does admitting that you tampered with it.

You just have to risk travelling on it and hope you don't get turned away, or cancel the trip. Morocco doesn't have the most lax passport service in the world, so I'd personally be wary of trying to get in (or perhaps more importantly, back out!) with a dodgy passport.

    No idea...

    how about the truth?:rotfl:

Don't go digging holes for yourself where they aren't necessary. You can't change the reality so if they refuse you passage lying will make things much worse.

Hopefully they won't give it a second glance but if they do you only have yourself to blame.

Tell the truth, it really is the only way.

If you tell lies, you have to remember what lies you have told.

Good luck with it, let us know how you get on.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
