Bingo

Do any of you play online bingo? Is it worth it or is it just gambling? I keep seeing those spam emails telling me I have a free £x to play and I was wondering if it was worth using that free £x and seeing what happened.

Or are the free £x just a con to get you to pay for real?

I've never even managed to win with the 'free' money so I've never felt particularly encouraged to continue :rotfl:

Years ago i won with the free money, won a tenner i think but i couldn't withdraw it unless i paid £20 in to my account, I never did "claim" the tenner! I did win a few times on Gala bingo though but with proper money not the free stuff.

I might be wrong, but all my instincts make me run a mile from any bingo emails and offers. They always look spammy to me. I treat these like I treat emails about claiming PPI :eek::eek:

The only bingo site I use is Foxy Bingo and I've won £250 twice with them, as well as £30 here and there. :)

I posted these free games for skybingo https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4366769

I play them every day and the biggest jackpot I have won is £82. I only ever made a deposit to withdraw.
In total my outlay was the original £5 - and I have had over £200 back.

Cheekybingo offers free games too, but you need a minimum win of £30 to withdraw, with an inicial £10 deposit.
I did just that and took my £40 back straight away. I am back on £0.82p there this year so far and £3.50 on skybingo
    Wishing you all good luck!

Ive been inclined to agree with that, but a friend of mine (who also regularly enters comps) is often updating her FB status telling us of the money she wins so Im just wondering if its worth it. The thing is I refuse to spend money on winning (apart from the odd line on the lottery) as I just dont want to get into gambling. Comping is a hard habit to break, but at least it doesn't hurt my bank balance.

I have been thinking about bingo for a while, but Im just worried I will become obsessed and spend all my money on it. Im thinking I should maybe stay clear for now.

Never bother with bingo sites, though I did a few years ago (lost way more than I won!!). Last week got an email deposit £10 get £25 free, so was a bit bored and deposited, played through my £10 and the free £25, withdrew £110 winnings same night and haven't touched it again!
Wouldn't do that with every bonus email I get, was having a bad day which turned out lucky :)
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

You have to be very good at withdrawing when it's the right time rather then carrying on and losing it all!
There are loads of offers around, especially being advertised on Facebook. There is one advert for Little Miss Bingo that I keep seeing, the site gives you £20 free to play no deposit needed and then if you like the Facebook page you get another £10 to play.
I have a flutter now and again but don't go mad with it. I have friends that have won loads on slots!
You just have to be clever and withdraw when you're up!

So true. I have played on a few of the Bingo sites (mainly taking advantage of offers), but think I will stop now. I have come out on top thanks to three big wins which totalled about £800. You only have to read the Chat threads on the Bingo sites to see that there a lot of people out there who don't know when to stop. I have read messages where people have talked about spending £200 in one session and they are clearly not well-off to begin with.

OP - by all means try out some of the sign-up offers, but only if you know you are the type who will just walk away and only if you regard that money as lost and see any win as a bonus.

It's not even gambling. You are paying to play a game and winning anything is a bonus and really just extends the time you are playing the game. The return to player is generally 50%. i.e if you deposit £100 you should be expected to win on average £50 after playing through the £100.

Bonuses when you deposit will give you more money to play with but most bonuses have a wagering requirement such as deposit £100 get £200 bonus money or they may word it as deposit £100 play with £300. The wager requirement may be 4 times (deposit+bonus) 4*(100+200) is £1,200. With an expected return to player of 50% you should expect to eventually lose everything unless in the unlikely event you win a jackpot which is extremely rare.
