Ok supermarket loyalty schemes whos best?

My local Waitrose is small and doesn't have much organic food so I buy Waitrose stuff from Ocado. I do like Waitrose, the card just seems a bit pointless to me.0

The way I see it is 0.5% off Sainsburys (Nectar card) 1-4% off Tesco/Tesco/Double-Up/specified sites (useful depending on what sort of things you normally buy) and Waitrose can be anything from 0.0001% upwards- depending on what you buy and how much, unless your spending £1 a shop there, it's never going to pay back as much as Tesco.
I think at the end of the day, don't bother using loyalty cards to shape where you shop. Consider the price-vs-quality and how far away you have to travel (costs) as well as offers -but only if things you normally buy are on offer. It's all very well supermarkets reducing things at an alarming rate, but if you'd have normally opted for the even-more cheaper version anyway your no better off.
The problem with the mailings are when your lured into buying products you'd not otherwise have bough (so spending more) just so you can use the voucher.
And I do think supermarkets pay us off way to cheaply to obtain the details they do about us.0 -
I've found by having 3 nectar cards I seem to get more points and till spits from sainsburys. I buy a couple of items with one card and then use another for the rest of my shop. sometimes I won't use a card for a couple of weeks or so and when I finally use it I get extra incentive till spits. When they give 800 points if you spend £20 on clothes buy them and take them back. If the min spend is £60 top up the shop with something you can return. Points vouchers can be used with any nectar card and I always get double or extra points or both. I always go for the reduced stuff or offers and last year I had over £150 of points which paid for cushions, boots and various things from argos.0

I go to Waitrose because they are the best supermarket, not for "points" - if they want to give me a free coffee to go with my pecan and butterscotch yum-yum, that's fine too
(I don't use Ryanair either.....they seem to be cheap too ......:rotfl::rotfl:)0 -

well done
to the OP ever tried wombling? ;)
I use Boots card for christmas to stock up on gifts whilst also getting £15 worth of points when you spend £50. that's what I did this year. Quite rewarding.
Nectar I use every now and then. In terms of how many coupons you get spit out compared to tesco is huge! double pts, 500 pts when you buy x,y,z. Also nice to see what they give you. And as the poster above said it's good to have more than one card, to mix it up.
The clubcard I use the most as I think it's most rewarding with their double ups every now and then you can use it to exchange for 3x or 4x times the amount with restaurants etc...
plus easiest to womble imo. I have accrued 1000's of points in the last few years quite easily.0 -
I have been in position in sainsburys where do big shop then it offers me money off next shop within a week for £40-60 which I dont do as just did a big shop.
Also these spend £40 a week over 4consecutive weeks-aka mr m I cant be arsed to go morrisions every week.
we use nectar card every week just sainsburys im guessing approx 100-150 a month on avrage and have accried 5quid if we lucky hence why getting fed up of it.
Whats wombling? I think will apply for 2nd nectar card as cant see how we avoid sainsburys completly.
Try play boots glitches again as machine would give extra points.
But try get petrol and mil shop at tesco week in week out will build up clubcard points which we can double up.As its stuff we buy anyway makes no difference to me im not changing my habits mil still get same boring items and car still needs filling up, could maybe look tesco for new uniform and shop tesco just for reduced only this year as feel pleased with my reductions other day.

Disagree - you can get a free cappucino every day for no spend at all. Pretty good deal - but not really a loyaty card for me!
and if you spend over £5 instore, you get a Daily Telegraph or Daily Mail free on weekdays - although you do have to remind the till staff to take off the amount for newspaper.
OP - you do get points for buying fuel at Tesco0 -
tra points.

You just show your My Waitrose card in the cafe. Also, each time your card is swiped when you buy shopping, you get entered into a monthly draw. You usually get 1p off of your shopping total each time (I got £3.50 on the last shop - I've no idea why) except when you go through SS tills - you can't use your card on those. But obviously, it's not for the 1p reduction that people use it You also get sent money-off vouchers.0 -
I shop at Sainsbury's mainly, so use my Nectar card there (the POS vouchers can be quite good). I've probably had about £10 off my shopping over the past year or so. I also link it to my iTunes account. I have a My Waitrose card, and recieved some vouchers before Christmas but the spend limit was £70, and since I don't drive and get the train to work, it wasn't very useful. Plus they don't market it as another loyalty card anyway.0

wombling is when you find a receipt in the supermarket of choice and then if the receipt hasnt been used with a loyalty card you go to customer service and say that you forgot to give your card in and you get the points credited to your card. I think you have around 2 weeks to get the points put on. I have done it in sainsbury but not co op or tesco... yet!
In asda i use the receipts to check the apg, have been lucky in the past and printed off vouchersMum, wife and dinnerlady!0
