    Boy, oh boy, am I glad it's Friday! I didn't sleep very well at all last night, kept waking up every hour, so today has been very long and slow. I think I'll be lucky if I make 9PM tonight!

    I made an OP of £50 today, slowly chipping away this month.

    We've had our boiler and gas fire serviced today, which cost £95 :eek: ouch. At least we know they're safe/working, but really? £95?! Is that expensive to have that done? That's the problem when owning a house for the first time, we have no idea what the going rate is for things like this. We've also been sent one of those energy monitor things by BG, which goes up and down depending on what you have on, and that's definitely an eye opener! I said to DH we'll have to start sitting in the dark :rotfl:

    We've had pie, chips, peas and gravy for tea - lovely and healthy :o and I intend to do nothing else this evening. Job done.

    We also had health food - macaroni cheese pies and curly fries :rotfl:

    Would you consider a cheap boiler cover policy? Ours is £11.40 a month, but this includes an annual service for the items you mention and parts and labour fixes (subject to a £50 excess, which seems perfectly reasonable considering the cost of boilers!)

    SF, have you seen this blog? The young gentleman has done everything to lower his energy consumption... To the point he has no fridge freezer, no running water and makes little phone calls. I think its great fun to see his lastest posts. Yes a bit extreme but its great to see you can beat the energy companys :T

    I've got a few Christmas presents this weekend :) I probably should write a list so I can remember what I've got for various people, but it's ticking along. I can't believe how soon Christmas is! This term is going to be mega busy too, so I need to plan so I'm not stressed a week before :rotfl:

    We've had roast pork and all the trimmings for tea :drool: followed by crumble and custard. Stuffed! But good :D

    Our new hoover arrived yesterday and it's fab :D it's made me realise just how rubbish our old one is! Never been quite so excited to hoover ;) but this weekend has been a spend-y one, so I'm hoping for a week of NSDs to make up for it.

    Today has been a day which makes me wonder whether I've chosen the right career. I have never been so angry with a student before and I've never ever shouted like I did today. I would never have dreamt to speak to a teacher like that, ever. And boy, did it put me in a bad mood!

    I'm currently sat wearing new contact lenses as I'm trying out a slightly different shape which should be better for my eyes. Trouble is, I can't tell at the moment if they're better or not! :roftl: I have to try them out for a week, so maybe I'll start to see a difference.

    Another NSD for me - I took a sandwich and two plums for lunch today, and we've had quiche with potato croquettes and beans for tea. I intend on doing nothing for the rest of the evening, whilst I relax and try to get rid of my grump ;)

    Arrrgh :wall::wall::wall::wall:

    Something has come up which would potentially be a move up the career ladder, to something different but similar, closer to home and perhaps more pay.

    However, it means changing our plans a lot and there's no chance I'd get it. Plus, it would then let my current school know I've been looking at other jobs/promotions....

    Why are adult decisions hard? :(:( :wall: :wall: :wall:
