Ah, I thought you meant someone to come in and do it! Because of the state of the walls under the paper, we can't use a steamer to get the paper off as it'll ruin the plasterboard underneath :(

I know that he's fine when he's with other people; he's a really sociable character and loves exploring and playing with others. I need to remember that when it's hard :)

Can't use a wallpaper stripper: see above :)

    :( Re. the wallpaper stripper.

Glad to hear your son is good with other people. It will help him as he gets a little older, though he may go through some personality changes. My son was very sociable and fascinated by other children his age when he was 2/3 but had a difficult time at nursery and found school very difficult. I think yours might be better for not being at home all the time, though.

The fact you miss him is good, it means you're a good parent and like spending time with him. :)
    September 2nd, 2016.

Is anyone else excited about the news that Tim Hortons is expanding to the UK? We had many a donut from there when we were in Canada and they're very yummy! Just hope they're cheaper than Krispy Kreme are ;) Although, that's not going to be good for my waist line...

In other news, second training day done and dusted :) it was fine, nothing too taxing and plodded along. I feel like I'm ready for the students arriving on Monday :) I took leftovers for lunch too; chicken chasseur with sweet potato mash and green beans. Very tasty it was too :)

NSD 2 of the month today. Tomorrow won't be one as I need to buy a birthday card and do the weekly grocery shop as well. I'm going to spend Sunday batch cooking some food for DS and get stuff made for the freezer. Going to do a SC something for us too, so a nice, slow day on Sunday together as a family.

Transferred £8.20 to our emergency fund today, as a little something different. I haven't put anything in there for ages, so not sure why I have today, to be honest!

    Happy Friday :)

I had to look up Tim Hortons. To be honest I'm not thrilled about yet another chain food store coming to the UK. ;) I think it must just be me that thinks the Krispy Kreme donuts look (and sound by their descriptions) revolting. :rotfl:

Are you looking forward to meeting the new Y7s? :)

Never heard of Tim Horton's, will have to google them. Agree with you totally about taking things slowly as often even small things can overwhelm us. I love writing targets, even better crossing them off when they have been completed. Did make a list of things to go or do over the summer hols and it was amazing how much I managed to do. Oh well back to work next week and a lot of savings as I would like to do some serious EF saving till the end of the year.x

Nope, not just you Alex, me too. I've never eaten one though. I just googled Tim Hortons and they look better. TBH though, if you are going to eat doughnuts they should either be ordinary ring ones or very fresh jam ones :). None of this icing stuff and especially not custard fillings _pale_.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    No more Boston creme's

GG - you need to try at least one :p I always thought the same as you until I finally caved and tried one...

I'm not keen on KK doughnuts - far too sweet and just taste of grease/sugar to me. Although it's been a number of years since I had some Tim Horton ones - don't remember them being anything but yummy! TH also does great coffee and sandwiches. We used them for reasonablely priced but fairly healthy lunches when touring around Canada

I used to love really crap doughnuts, and then I got spoiled when I worked near Whitecross Market in London, a million years ago. Fresh apple doughnuts, really well fried, they were sometimes selling them too hot to hold, they were so popular. From an independent baker, of course :)

I hope I'm a good parent! I like all donuts :o and I met them at the end of the summer term when they come up for their transition time, but it'll be nice to see them looking all smart in their uniform :)

Ooh no, I love custard donuts. You need to try one, at least once!

Ooh, yum. You can't beat it at the seaside when you get freshly made ring donuts dunked in waaay too much sugar and eat them when they're just a bit too hot...:drool::drool:

    September 3rd, 2016.

What an absolutely miserable day it has been here. It has chucked it down since about half past 10 and has not stopped at any point. Luckily I'd popped to the shop and then the post office with DS before it started as I needed to buy a birthday card and post it. Made it home just before it started raining, as I was walking so a lucky escape I think!

So, spent £1 on a card and 64p on a stamp. I have also spend £46 on our weekly food shop, with a batch cooking day planned for tomorrow so make some more meals for DS so I can freeze them. I'm going to make some chicken curry, ratatouille, salmon fishcakes and hidden veg tomato sauce so lots of yummy meals for him to have :) I hope he appreciates it! ;) I've only made the chicken curry before out of these for him, so just hope he likes the others. I'm also making a SC lemon garlic chicken dish for us for tea tomorrow, so the kitchen is going to be smelling good :)

Lastly, I have put £25 into the car for petrol for the coming week. As I now only work three days, our petrol usage is not too bad. I don't now how much longer we'll be able to manage as a one car family, as it is beginning to get slightly more tricky to plan. If we make it to Christmas with just one, we'll be doing well I think.

Right, I'm off to make a hot chocolate and watch the rest of Casualty :)

SF: I'm sure you're a good parent. :) I have an introduction to upper strings assembly / question and answer session on Tuesday for the new Y7 children at the school I volunteer / do some paid work at. I can guarantee half won't have tied their ties in a neat knot and some will think black trainers are a suitable school shoe. It seems looking smart at that school is optional.

The weather has been miserable here too. Do you manage to eat for the whole week on £46?
