SF, you can't do it all! Keep the blog just ticking over, and as you say the mortgage overpayments are on the back burner.
Have you spoken to the health visitor about DS? And I've just been cranial osteopathy for babies: http://www.netmums.com/coffeehouse/baby-794/babies-birth-12-months-58/692318-cranial-osteopathy-babies-experiences-advice-please-all.html
Obviously, you have to get the best person, no question.
Be kind to yourself, especially when you're in a grump! You been out for a walk today?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Don't beat yourself up about overpayments and early retirement
50 is a very early goal for retirement - I wouldn't have been able to retire at 50, and I never had expensive things like children.
Just concentrate on today for the time being.
According to my mum, I never slept at night. I think it's just the way some people are - even today I sleep better in the mornings than at night. But, as my mum told me, this stage doesn't last forever, and it apparently does get better over time. But not much consolation for you nowEarly retired - 18th December 2014

You are doing amazingly well just to avoid going backwards at the moment SF. Reduced maternity income is a temporary thing, and not a time to fret over not saving or overpaying enough, for you to manage anything at all at the moment is an achievement in itself!
I'm continually impressed with how you've managed to regularly update the blog with a littley in tow
Sleep will be a part of your life again soon, little comfort right now I know, but there is light at the end of the tunnel!0 -
Sf when you don't get enough sleep it is hard to function. Little cookie was terrible when he was young. I don't need much sleep but after months just 1-2 hours I was a zombie. Don't worry about things so much and just enjoy little Sf. Things will work out.MFW 91 op 2014 £410/1000

Thanks everyone; it's not any better so I'm a bit of a zombie at the moment. I hope every night for just a little longer in between waking, but it doesn't seem to be happening any time soonBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I've done the very dull task of listing some things on the bay of e today - only 7 but I'm hoping that they sell for a reasonable amount. That's all I could face doing as it seemed to take an age today!
I can't believe it's nearly the end of Januarymy maternity leave is going too fast
I need to make some decisions about what I'm going to do about returning to work and my hours etc., which need some thinking about. I really want to try and build up my online income so that I can balance it out, though that means being even more vigilant about my use of time.
I'm also planning to have a massive clear out of my wardrobe and either try and sell some more things, take things to the charity shop and then chuck the rest. I'm so fed up of all of the clutter we seem to own, plus I don't even wear half of what I own! I'm leaning more and more towards the idea of a capsule wardrobe, and buying slightly more expensive clothes in the hopes they'll last longer.
Right, need to get DS sorted and into bed. Fingers crossed tonight might be the night he sleeps!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Hi SF, good to hear from you
I *so* agree with you about a capsule wardrobe - I'm using up what I've got, I can't afford to replace really, but I definitely intend to lower the amount of clothes that I have - even T shirts, I have dozens of them!
I agree about the use of time - I'm having a few illuminated moments myself about what I do and don't do around being online - oops!
I hope tonight *is* the night DS sleeps.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Happy new year SF
Not going to be all false positive on the sleeping front, we still think it's a 'treat' if DD only wakes up once and 08:00 is a 'lie in', even if she wakes at 05:00 for a feed :rotfl:
I can probably relate to your muddle/blues over financial goals while on maternity leave, we've found it challenging as well. I've done what little things I can (opening SIPPs with minimal monthly payments etc.), but we are currently £1k+ down on our monthly income when Mrs E returns to work.
That said, don't wish the time away. Suspect that Mrs E is dreading going back and she still has 4 months to go.0 -
Erm, I have news for you - as you age, 8am becomes a lie in for everyone, even if they don't have kids. Like me, for example. Sorry!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
