You have Whitsun week coming up, get something booked.slowlyfading wrote: »You've hit the nail on the head thereI worry that I'm not going to be a good enough parent, that we don't have enough money or time - which is stupid! Everybody must go through this though, right?
Having a child does not mean my life is over as I know it. It just means that it changes, but definitely for the better
Having a bit of a life wobble at the moment, it would seem
I don't think I'll be ever a good enough parent for my son and it's a concern I have had since I told my wife I wanted us to have a child. In my case I don't think it entirely irrational but even the really very good parents seem to think along the same lines.
Yes, your life will change and your marriage also but it doesn't really do anyone good to have their entire lives revolve around one small person.
Hope this makes sense.2018 totals:

Morning, I'm sure every parent has the same worries. It's a big job but the rewards are wonderful. So many stages of development and each one brings both joy and concerns.
The next few weeks will pass so quickly - take care.

I've never had a child, but I've looked after my nephews a few times. My sister has 3 boys, and used to swear by £30-40 fold up buggys. They can get left outside without being stolen, got chucked into the back of cars easily, were easy to clean when they inevitable got covered in chocolate, sick, chocolate sick and what ever else.
It's easy to buy a 14 tonne behemoth pram, that transforms, and makes coffee, but you have to carry It around, and lift it into your car. Get something light and simple .
Remember that the people in the shop don't work for you, they work for the shop. It is their job to sell you the most expensive pram they can, and they'll use their trump card 'Do you not care about your babies safety? you NEED a £1000 pram or you are a bad mother'
Check euro ratings, not manufacturer marketing info.
WRT to pension, for the last 5 years, I've put every pay rise increase straight into my pension. In 5 years, 've gone from 3% to 11% contribution, that my employer matches to 10%.
I've not missed the increase, because I've never had it, but hopefully I'll have enough to retire on when I'm 600 -

Northern Monkey - thanks for your post
I think we have decided what pram to go for - £289 for the pram and car seat and it is nice and light
it passes all of the safety regulations and I'm not bothered about fancy colours - it'll be black
Congratulations on your pay increases and awesome job on putting it straight into your pension! I'm sure it'll pay dividends when you retireBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

What a lovely, extended weekend it has been
I quite like being at home and not at work
We managed to spend £85 on some new towels and duvet set today  we've needed new towels for ages, and since our bathroom has been finished since the end of November, they're long overdue. But, who knew that towels and duvets would be so expensive? Not me, that's for sure!
We also treated ourselves to a pub lunch, seen as we were out anyway, which was nice. We had a game of pool which DH well and truly beat me athe only had one red ball left to pot whilst I had 6 yellows still on table! I blame not being able to bend down properly for my rubbish attempt at playing
The rest of the week should see a fairly quiet, normal week for usNSDs for the rest of the working week and then a family oriented weekend planned
Happy bank holiday everyoneBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
