I've got a new phone and it reminded me of one previous upgrade where DH looked at me in horror when I asked him to transfer over my huge batch of text messages - because they were "special" to me
I'm hoping I'm not alone!
You're not alone. I have a phone in my drawer that does not work any more. It's been sat there for 5 years. I have had 3 upgrades since then, am on a different network totally.
But it has all the special text messages from when I first went out with my OH so I don't want to get rid of it.
LIR I do like pet names, sorry if I gave the wrong impression, but it's just those two names, babe and hun which drive me batty. I think it's because I used to know someone who used those so he wouldn't mix his ladies names up if he was with the wrong one iykwim
Nice sunny day today, even though it snowed in the night. Am full of resolutions to declutter my bedroom some. Especially as I fell over the loft ladder which is waiting to be installed, grazed my foot and promptly ran through my collection of anglo-saxon oaths.
Oh and what do I do with 1 kilo of peeled and prepared garlic cloves that I got in the market yesterday for £2? :rotfl:0 -
Also at the beginning I stopped my recycling because it was taking up so much time and space...washing cans/bottles...shredding paper work...and threw it away instead, taking the stance that I would (and have) start again when I was free of rubbish. Plus so many people don't recycle that I felt I should have a get out of jail free card for a few weeks
If you desperately want to recycle, look on it as a treat that you will oinly be allowed the luxury of when you have cleared lots of stuff out
PS I hate pet names as I have noticed philanderers favour them to save letting the wrong first name slip out
Bexim - welcome and well done for getting 5% cleared out - now aim for 6% and you might manage 7% - and keep reading the tips! You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
Talking about pet names, my ex and I used to call each other "Bats"...it was in an affectionate way but now I don't remember why and it seems odd

I can so relate to this.I have a phone in my drawer (and have upgraded twice since then too). The phone in my drawer doesn't charge properly but has lots of text messages from when myself and my DH started going out. I keep thinking of getting rid but can't bring myself to do it.

If you have a large freezer, stick the garlic cloves in there. It's safer than the various methods of preservation. You can get exactly that in ethnic shops or catering suppliers, after all. Just DON'T BUY ANY MORE GARLIC.
I used to call one boyfriend by a pet name. But that was because he only answered to a really, really stupid nickname he'd had since he was tiny and I felt a complete twit saying it. It was so stupid, the bloke down the road nicknamed Noddy because he used to nod his head as he fell asleep as a baby, still called it thirty years later, was a perfectly normal and unembarrassing name. And he refused to answer to either of his birth names.
It's a beautiful day out there today. Blue sky, even a bit of sunshine. Almost forgot what that looked like.
And the two cats appear to have spent the night on the same chair without warfare !!!!! :eek:I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Don't plan, just do!
First and possibly easiest thing is the clothes, as you say they are bagged up and ready!
I also have clothes bagged up to go to charity. They have been bagged up for about a week.
Unfortunately I am not in a position to take them at the mo as I'm unwell. However, it is on my to do list - along with everything else.

Only people I might not want to talk to use my birth name ( bank, doctor, taxman, distant relatives....). I had a different name professionally and now use my childhood pet name. It sounds really shadey as I have four names kind of 'in operation' but it works for me. My old work name is totally separate from life now. Who 'I' am doesn't sit there having health discussed.

Freeze it!!
I must be a hard-hearted soul as I don't keep anything like texts, I say "oh that's nice" and it goes when I have a round of deleting. My MIL, though, has kept her DS answerphone message and the last text he sent her before he died, but I guess that is understandable. The card box wouldn't be for me either as, for me, cards are about what is written inside rather than the picture. I saw an idea a while ago to re-use christmas cards by putting a sticker or label over the greeting and resending to someone else the following year. The pre-bought labels explained that you'd done this and why (and were bought from a charity) but my OH put his foot down and said no. I still think it's a shame as we often have beautiful cards, some home-made and it's a pity they only get used once.
I have had a small victory this morning - I was decluttering and cleaning the kitchen and there has been "a pretty tin of stuff" on the microwave for yonks. I was opening a pack of decaff coffee thinking "isn't it a shame that I haven't got a tin for this". DING!!!!! Stuff has been chucked or rehomed and coffee is in pretty tin that I didn't want to chuck. Small steps...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

This made me chuckle as I get called a different variation of my name by different people e.g. Nickname, shortened versions of name and I know which set of people are talking to me without turning round by how they address me.
I have recently started a new job and the boss introduced the new staff and for me she used the variation my family use and I was looking round to see who it was along with everyone else. I felt like such a numpty!
Having a bad day today...just can't get moving. I think because of the snow I know we are not going to dance class so have no get up and go!Don’t put it down - put it away!
